how big can fenrisian wolves get?
I recently bought a Avatars of war dire wolf, it's massive!! I want to use it as a wolf for a sapce wolf wolf lord, so just how big can fenrisian wolves get?(this ones as tall as a SM)

I think the IA article made reference to them being capable of growing to the same size as a Rhino APC.

Yup, the biggest meanest ones are known to grow to the Size of a Rhino at the Shoulder. On average they grow to about 90% the hight of the Space Wolf at the shoulder.

So yeah, 6-7 foot wolves roaming about? Hell yes!

If you research some artwork and just read about Norse Mythology, Fenris was friggen huge! And he kept growing! I mean, he killed Odin for cryin' out loud!

I would assume GW used this as reference.

The scale is fine. I notice that is a 2nd edition Grey Hunter though, so that might be part of the Problem

I don't think Citadel even make Wolves anymore. But yeah, it is a really really nice model. If anyone gives you greif about it just tell them that GW dont make Wolf Models anymore, and then whip out the fluff thhat says they grow to the size of Rhinos, and point out that the Scale on rhinos is actually too small, so they should in theory be even bigger

isnt there a rumor that in the new codex you cant take them as a fast attack

they make wolves for vampire counts i could be wrong

The only vampire counts wolves I have seen when I was looking for wolves, were like undead zombie scaletal wolves. You would have to sculpt the fur back on them.

I remember way back in the day they used to make "Dire Wolves" for VC armies. Not sure if they make them anymore.

You never could take them as Fast Attack in a normal SW army. I've not really heard anything about them in the new codex, but I think they will either be allowed as Fast Attack ala 13th Company or will be Similar to Tau Drones

the wolf is cool and if someone says it is out of scale just remind them they arnt real (but in keeping with fluff scale)

Russs' wolf brother and sister Freki and Greki were huge as large as Russ is and he is like 10 feet tall. So they would be the size of a land raider.

pretty much confirmed to be Russ and his Wolves

Just a thought if youre looking for more wolves. The LotR Wargs make pretty good wolves if you give them a little work. The warg chieftan is particularly good as you can convert the guy he's standing on into a heretic with min effort. Mines name is Togg, he likes to chew on Tau in particular.

You can use the chaos hounds in place of wolves or you can buy the goblin wolf riders and use the wolves and sell the goblins. I use the chaos hounds.
