After talking with a friend the other day, I double checked the IG dex vs Apoc and IA:1, and was somewhat surprised to find the difference in the points cost of the Hydra... IG Dex = 75 Apoc and IA = 200, seriously, is this a misprint? Rules wises it seems fairly even you trade the BS for shooting at flyers rule for the no cover for skimmers going fast.. And a LR Exterminator, is twice the cost for what seems comparable ability (lumbering behemoth vs AA, longer range vs more armor) so, WTF?

<Rarity> I am not whining, I am complaining! Do you want to hear whining?

Thiiis is whiiiiining! Oooo, this mini is too expeennsive! I'm' going brrookee! Can't you make it cheaper? Oh, it's resin and not metal anymore! Why didn't you take it off the sprue first? That's gonna leave a pour spout, and the FLGS is so far away, WHY DO I HAVE TO SUPPORT IIIIIIIT?! </Rairty>

No, it's not a misprint, and no, there's no reason to take an Exterminator when you can have 2 Hydras for the same price.

The Hydra for 200 was idiotic. At least at 75 it's a feasible choice.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

The Hydra at 200 points makes sense in the context of flyers - they would annihilate just about any flyer they shoot at in a single turn - but if you're not using flyers, no, they are stupidly overpriced.

Well, it's still not entirely sensible, since a Thunderbolt is 180, and has the Hydra's AA autocannons plus a twinlinked lascannon and room for bombs.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

The Hydra's rate of fire relative to other 40k weapons is what's ridiculous. Oh, wait; sorry, I was applying reality and common sense to 40k again. Silly griz.

Why? It cuts their turboboost save from 3+ to merely 4+, and they still have feel no pain against it.

As to Hydra vs. Exterminator, I think the main advantage is the 14 front armor, vs. 12. But even then, I'd rather have an executioner or punisher.

One thing to note is that the Hydra in the IG codex does not have the AA mount special rule, so if you do use it against flyers you're going to need a '6' to hit (although they don't get the cover save for moving fast).

Yeah, but if you're playing against flyers, you're prolly playing Apoc.. It's the points diffrence between Apoc, and the Dex, and between the LR and the Hydra that's bugging me..

Can a flyer even move fast? I mean, you just move it from spot to spot; I wasn't aware that they had different movement rates and/or rules qualified by them.
