I haven't built mine yet (and prolly won't get to it for a couple weeks). So just wondering how sturdy is the flying stand? When I was doing tau stuff a while ago, I made my hammerhead just have the little landing feet thingies because of how flimsy the flying stands were.

Would it be easier and safer for the model to just do the same thing with Valkyries? Or would people complain that it's too easy to hide if it's not on a flying base? Why would it have landing feets on the wings if it's not supposed to land?

The stand is solid and is easily removable from the model. Your opponents will expect you to have it on the stand it comes with, and rightly so. The model is super deadly, and its only real glaring weakness is its inability to make use of cover.

If you dropped the model you would be more likely to shatter the model than harm the new stands, which is very different from the old plastic skimmer stands. I think you would need a hammer to break the valkyrie stand.

i have seen the valk stand and was very impressed with it very solid (not even in the same league as the crappy snappy flying bases out at the mo) and well thaught out i would use it without a second thaught about it braking .

rest assured you valk will be ok in the air

at least till my angels get a bead on it (evil laughter) lol

Use the flying stand.

2 big reasons:

A) Depending on how you assemble it, the flying stand is probably sturdier than your Valkyrie. The 'connector' piece on mine was too small, so in true engineering fashion, I hit it hard enough until it went in. The connector, which, mind you, is made of the same material as the valkyrie, bent outwards to accomidate the flying stand, and the edges flaked off. The flying stand was no worse for the wear.

B) The Valkyrie is spatially the same footprint as a Baneblade. Do I really need to elaborate on all the massive placement problems this is going to give you when using it in game? I shudder to think.

The flying stand is made of hard plastic, but that makes it very brittle. it won't bend it will crack (you will get the idea when you break the tabs off of it). It is very sturdy though and should do fine, I just wouldnt glue it into the valkyrie or else it will snap if the model falls (and you would have trouble packing it up anyway )
