If your looking for a small elite army then grek knights are also an option, or even marines.

Drop pod SM?
Mech/tank heavy IG?
Grey knights?
Mech dark eldar?

My mech IG list only plays 47 infantry (and 9-12 tanks depending on how you want to structure the HS/FA selections). They're all the rage right now with their new codex and other fun stuff.

CSM Death Guard few models and highly reliable.

Eldar or Chaos Marines.


I played and 1850 game a few hours ago I had 5 Squads.

9 Termies
9 zerkers
9 t-sons
8 t-sons
10 marines

sorc HQ in the zerker squad

LR transport for the zerks/sorc

rhino for the t-sons
rhino for the t-sons

sons liquified anything caught in the open with rapid fired AP3
zerks liquified anything in cover
termies liquified anything with a 2+ save or squads of multi-wound models
the normal marines supported whichever unit was nearby by picking off squads mutilated by rapid fire or CC so they could pour their full force on another squad without wasting it on finishing up the remaining 5 wounds of a damaged squad.


How well did it play? It went so-so. Lost roughly half my models by the game's end, he'd lost 4/5ths of his.




can't speak in depth of eldar, but I've seen their armies and they're not too high on models. Unless you want them to be.

My First army was Marines, fast, mobile and powerful
My second army was Tau, lighter, powerful weapons, sit back and shoot style
For my third army I wanted to just ramage across the board and smash stuff up!! ... ... ... I went with orks.

Reason why I say this is because each of my armies has a different play style, so this will obviously affect your choice. You say you already have orks so that would logically mean you have a huge mobile assualt force. So it would suit you better to either go with a resiliant and strong force, or something more laid back.

Marines or Chaos Marines are good for resiliance, Tau are good for sitting back and shooting what comes near you. Those are my votes at least

If you want a very elite army, do Grey Knight land raider rush. You will have almost no squads on the board, but Grey Knights are just nasty in CC and shooting even. Deathwing is another option. Black Templars crusader spam. Mechdar is pretty low. Nidzilla.
