I'm also talking about annoying players too,
so mine was a game I played just 20 minutes ago against my brother. . . according to him kroot can jump over walls, and jet packs allow his battlesuits to automatically avoid and leave any close combat. . . hmmm

Years ago got myself ready to play a game against a kid in our store, about 14. He was new, and I was under the impression that he was going to need a lot of coaching. That's all good, I had some great folks learn me to play the game; I stand ready to return the favor to the community. That and I was eager to play his tyranids. Never had seen very much of them, and was looking forward to seing what they could do. I was FULLY prepared to dig into his army and codex to see what all kinds of nastiness he could throw, teach him how to use as much as I could, and basically set him up as a trap to spring on the next guy who played him expecting a kid who didn't know anything. I wanted him to destroy his next opponent. All within the rules and spirit of the game, no funny business.

Problem was, this kid had funny business down pat. As we were setting up, I saw that he had a ton of models. I mean a TON. In 1000 points, he had thrown out 6 squads of 32 gaunts, all of them tricked out to the max! I didn't get a point value at first, but he had gone to the Build A Bug section in the back, fine. He started rattling off all the stuff these things had. They were about 20 points apiece. At this point I'm confused, major WTF.

Turns out the kid had looked in the book, and seen the point values for each upgrade in the build a bug section. Each points cost had a dash in front of it. He claimed that he thoguht the dash, was a minus; thereby you had to subtract the cost of the upgrade from the base cost of the model.

He blamed it all on being dyslexic.

There is a guy I occasionally have to play at my FLGS due to tournaments and league play. His orks move 8 inches somehow...

Once upon a time, I told myself it's better to be smart than lucky. Every day, the world proves me wrong a little more.

Lol, so I was playing a 20yr old the other day. After correcting his movement a few times by remeasuring the 7+ inches, I suggested he just measure 5.75 inches so that if he plays in a competative enviroment his opponents won't throw a fit.

After the two times, I confidently picked up his models, moved them back to their orignal position and informed him that his turn is going to take all evening if he can't even use a tape measure properly. I then showed him where the 6 on the tape measure was.

This was actually a 2 on 2 group game. So I had my audience of 2, it wasn't annoying me or them, just the guy that I was showing how to operate a tape measure. I had the other two laughing pretty hard. After a good ribbing they guy finally clued in, I was going to continue to make him a laughing stock if he persisted in the path he was going. And... And... SUCCESS!! he learned.

The most annoying game I played was actually against the player who taught me, and the annoying nature of the game was not caused by him, but the very nature of the game.

We both play Marines, but I also play Eldar and he also plays tyranids. So usually we play my Eldar versus his space marines, my Space Marines versus his tyranids or my Eldar versus his Nids.

But on this occasion we played his space marines versus mine.

he ran a two ironclad two vindicator list with Cassius and Sterngaurd. I ran a two dreadnought, all drop pod force. It was a Capture and control scenario and both of us are highly static once the drop pods come in, so it turned into a real boring slog fest...

P.M. me for rational Eldar Advice, both on list construction or Tactics.

Also feel free to query me about rules from the Eldar and Space Marine codices, as well as the General Rule book.

Any and all games against my buddy Jason. He plays Dark Angels, and fail 1 out of every 50 armor saves. At MOST. Played a 1250 point game against him with my Tyranids, I got TABLED, and killed 3 Marines.

Not one I played personally, but my friend did.

Double Lash vs. Double Lash.

My buddy left the game after turn 4. His opponent was suitably bored as well, IIRC.

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

Most annoying game was my last attemt to beat my friends Khorne CSM army before he goes on study abroad next fall (i have lost 9 of the 9 games I have played against him). He's a really good general and his bezerkers never miss. I finally decided to pull out my orks instead of using my tau to try my luck. I only managed to kill a Dread, and 3 Bezerkers - one of which was his own sacrifice. His rolls just defy the laws of probability.

Example - I charge him with 20 boyz, his 10 bezerkers strike first hitting 24 times wounding 20 times. I fail most of my saves. I roll to hit and miss everthing. Happened a 2nd time but with a squad of 16 boyz, I ask to try his dice, I still miss, even with my PK, he picks back up his dice and wounds me 3 times with his PF finishing off the squad...

Ugh! Last Saturday I played Orks vs Chaos Space Marines Seize Ground.

Literally NOTHING worked for me. Not one of my units behaved in a statistically average fashion. Everyone brought rubber bullets and plastic swords to the battle it seems.

My kannon failed to glance av 11 for 4 turns.

My SAG consistentally scattered off the enemy and at one point scattered a whopping 10" onto my own men, killing 4. The one time it didn't scatter I had rolled a double 4 and my opponent passed his saves.

Out of 40 attacks from a charging trukk mob I inflicted a grand total of 4 wounds, 3 of which were saved.

My nob on a potentially game winning roll to wipe out 2 chaos space marines required with his 4 attacks to hit twice and wound twice. He hit twice and then rolled a 2 and a 1 possibly single handedly losing me the game.

I failed ALL my leadership checks. SHOOTING Ld checks. And all my squads have bosspoles. Meaning that out of 12 independent rolls of a 2D6 I failled to roll a 7 or lower even once.

On the turn I called my waaagh all my runs were a 1.

In another potentially game winning moment I only had to make a consolidate roll of a 3 or higher to claim an objective. I rolled a 1.

My lootaz, 10 of them, acounted for a grand total of 2 marines and 1 immobilised rhino throughout the entire game.

Despite all of this and my almost complete inability to hurt my opponent in shooting or assault, to run or to pass leadership checks I still very nearly won the game. Although he had pretty much his entire army, bar 1 chaos squad, his lash sorceress and a vindicator, still remaining at the end of turn 5 I was holding 3 objectives to 2.

The dice for randomg game length was rolled and came up a 6.

At the end of turn 6 he won 4 objectives to 0.

Most annoying game of 40K ever!

seen that one take a squad with normal coherancy messure 6" and move THE FURTHEST FORWARD model .......then move the rest of the squad up LEAVING THE FIRST MODEL AT THE BACK so he is the only one in the squad to have moved 6" every one else gets at least 8" to 12" of movement .

I run into so many annoying games I have to make a list here. Most of these are more pet peeves through, mostly due to a pure casual player walking into a pure-competitive environment.

1> I hate it when people roll without saying what they are rolling for and with what. I was playing against a Tau player once that just kept rolling quickly and never saying what he was doing and then telling me how many saves. I had to ask him to slow and explain multiple times before I just gave up and spent the majority of the time watching an other game. Yet he complains how he has to read everyone's codex to learn how to play his own.

2> People that play lists and not armies annoy me too much. This sounds strange to some but let me explain, there are quite a few people at my FLGS that only have what is needed for their list and nothing more. When they get bored, they sell everything off and pick up the next flavor of the month. I find these people extremely boring to play against since once you see the list, you never really get anything different from that player again til he gets bored. Especially when they are always ultra competitive lists and I'm a pure casual player so I refuse a lot of games at my FLGS...

3> Now this one shouldn't annoy me as much but since everyone at my FLGS (literally) did this to me it makes my list. People that deploy everything in the corner of the battlefield. Especially when I play armies that have a lot of stuff on the table and I never have the chance to do the same, plus I play Orks and Necrons who don't have much in mass template loving. The worst case I had was a 2 vs 2 (Orks and Tyranids VS Sisters of Battle & Tau), my teammate took the right side and I took the left. My opponents deployed in a way that forced me out of the game, my loota boyz in the near middle of the board had ONE thing to target with their 48" range. Basically I spent the entire game running and not doing anything, thanks for the game invite there.

Honestly, cheating has never been an issue with anyone I played against even through I get told of hundreds of ways that people cheat. If they do cheat, its after they pissed me off some other way and I stopped caring about the game and stopped watching what they are doing. Which at that point, I rather have them cheat and cut down the game time so I can get into a good game

I know I'm sounding like a baby, but theres only so many times you can take the same thing over and over before it gets under your skin.

Not strictly 40K but Necromunda's close. I'm a fast player, like to keep the pace going. My opponent was a club regular, nice guy but a very, very slow player. It's 2AM and we've just finished a game where I've taken a captive. He wants to play the rescue straight away, I'm not really up for it but relent.

He then takes 45 mins to deploy seven models (I'm bored as hell by this point). By 4am he's into his second turn and he decides to fire his heavy plasma gun at the captive's guard (you know, the one that's in base contact with the prisoner). On maximal. The guard's okay (1 to wound) but the hostage goes out and is dead.

2 utterly pointless hours culminating in him killing the guy he's supposed to be rescuing.

i sooo agree i build an army that has a good look and plays the way i want it to i have got pretty much every option modeled that i could ever want i allso find this means i can change out my army so i dont ever play the same list twice it makes 1 army so much more fun

haha, is this guy named Grant? Sounds like him. I was in the hardboyz tournament this last time. My eldar force vs. something like 144 guardsmen and 3 tanks. He starts by pulling out some of his trays of infanty. The he puts models on the table... after 10 minutes everythings on the table, I'm like annoyed cause he was taking his time putting them out. I ask if he's finished and he says he's just put them on the table (I'm like oh cr@p), then he starts arranging them by model type, putting all las cannons together, then all autocannons, then plasma guns, then melta guns... so I start asking him what he's doing.... now he's making sure eveyones on the table... (this takes another 10 minutes)... Now he starts putting them into their correct squads.. but this isn't his deployment either (another 10minutes).... mind you this is a timed tournament.... I walk over to the judge and inform him my opponent is mostly likely stalling. I come back... all the squads are now put together, but he hasn't deployed anyone... I walked back to the judge... I tell the judge... my opponent is deliberately stalling. I go back.... 10minutes pass... almost eveyrthing is deployed... including models that dont' belong on the table... sigh... judge walks over.... asks whats up. I ask my opponent why he has tanks on the table, the setup says no heavy support.... he takes the tanks off the table... then I ask my opponent why he's got infantry within 12 inches of mine when the min is 18inches. he moves a squad... so i ask him about all the models that are too close. I look at the judge and say this is another form of stallling.

51 minutes after deployment was over he's finally deployed... judge won't call the game on stalling, and won't give extra time. Super annoying. I won't bother with the rest of the game, but it was rules arguement after arguement, plus using his codex incorrectly, arguing over whats in his codex.. like an ability of his requires LOS, it says requires LOS, he insists it doesnt... Im like WTF. Another guard player walks over... says I'm right. Oye Vey! Then there was blatant cheating, a little too obvious if you ask me, some bending of the rules, at one point I yelled rather loudly, "please please stop cheating, stop arguing and just roll the damn dice"

The only satisfaction I got out of the game was I still somehow beat the guy, to which he argued it was a tie, and like 3 people jumped on him and added up the score and yes.. I had more kp, no tie.

I once agree'd to play my friend at city fight not realising he'd been drinking. He got to turn 2 fine but then started knocking his own models over and spending ages picking them up and putting them back in their places, this was fine in itself but he then knocked other models over whilst correcting the original unit. Also he occassionally knocked over the scenery. Was slightly irritating but the worst part was he still beat me lol...

At my FLGS, I was usually stuck on the same team with this idiot Marine/Daemonhunters player who was deathly afraid of losing models. He once embarked a devastator squad into a Land Raider to hide from incoming enemy fire next turn. Another time, he hid his tooled-out commander with the combat-shield honor guard and everything at the back of our deployment zone behind a building. Meanwhile, I was fighting all the close combats with my 3rd-ED Codex Guard (I can't complain entirely though- I killed Kharn, a mess of Beserkers, and a mess of Tzeentch Termies all with Yarrick and my command squad). Anyway, he was just so counterproductive to everything. He argued practically every rule, even though he was wrong 99% of the time. And when deploying, he'd block up everything with his units, especially his Land Raider which he only to shoot rather than transport assault troops as well. On the rare occasion he dedicated any unit to a push at the enemy, he either sat them somewhere or ducked them out the minute they took fire.
It was beyond frustrating playing on his team. I usually was stuck on his team since some people insisted on fluffy games (Imperials vs Chaos/Xenos, ect.). I don't really blame those people, as they did not want to be on that kids team either (Though playing against him was a pain in and of itself). Unfortunately, all I basically have is Guard, so I was terminally stuck with the Dainty Marines on my side.

I have a friend who insists on rolling each dice seperately. Now, some of you may be thinking, "Big Whoop! How many rolls can he get in one turn?"...

He plays a foot-slogging, max-squading, shooty orks list... Usually I end up grabbing my dice and rolling the one armour save that the mass manages and pass it before he has even finished trying to wound and failing.

"From the fires of Betrayal unto the blood of revenge we bring the name of Lorgar, the Bearer of the Word, the favored Son of Chaos, all praise be given to him.
