Subject: Online Purchasing question for Australians.

Hey folks. I wanted to get some feed back from some of you on purchasing from a particular web page.
For a while now I have been looking at getting in to this hobby. I have been holding off for a while, but now i have decided to take the plunge.
The question I have is with regards to a page called Maelstrom Games. I want to know if anyone from Australia have purchased from there in the past and if you have, were they any good? How did you find their shipping, their prices etc. Really I am just a little unsure if I should fork out the dosh and then find that the "free shipping" is a load of malarky.
I have compared their pricing to a few other places like Scrapdragon and I have found that they are pretty competitive. It is just a little confusing since they are over in England I think and they do not charge shipping overseas....I just want to get some customer feedback on the issue. Thanks for your time folks.

Quick, someone hide this post before HBMC comes in and boldly proclaims that Maelstrom are the best option Aussies have!
Even if he is right.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

I only order from Maelstrom unless it's something I can't get from them (like GW direct only pieces, and that may be changing soon as Maelstrom have started to sell a few Direct Only pieces). I have since turned other Aussies here (Cheese, Gonads, and a few others) to the Malestrom cause because they're the best store I've ever dealt with. The free shipping is not a load of malarky, it is 100% true and easily one of the most amazing features that they offer. I recently made a large order to them during their last sale (yes, they have sales) which included 6 Valkyries and 2 Shadowswords (among other things) and they sent it via insured post for free. One box took a little longer to arrive than the other - for some reason - but the first box arrived within a week of the items being released. Order from them. When you do big bulk orders (I got AUD$900 worth of stuff in my last order - thanks Mr. Rudd! ) the free shipping thing is always worth it.

Just to give a big +1 to Maelstrom. 100% Free Shipping everywhere. I know some US guys Swear by Neil and the Warstore, and depending on where you are in the UK you might find another store that works out maybe 3 or 4 pounds cheaper, but for Europe, Oz, Asia and Huge Orders (that will kill ya "savings" if you have to pay the postage), Maelstrom Games is the best Store around.

Ok folks, thank you very much for the information and the responses. Looks like I am off to Maelstrom for 40k stuff. It is a bloody shame though. I find it kind of sad that I can not go to an Australian store and get the same kind of deal. No offense to our UK friends, but I would rather help keep the small corner hobby store in business. But with the prices that I have calculated so for....mate, there is no way on gods green earth that I could afford to get an army up any other way.
Again, thank you for your replies.
Arm.

I know what you mean. The place I'm moving into soon has a GW store a 5 min drive away - no joke, it's 5 mins away, 15 if I walk to Westfield - yet it's still cheaper to buy from a different country. And the guys at the Hornsby GW store are nice guys, but I can't buy with their prices. With the last order I did to Maelstrom I got $1300 worth of stuff (Oz prices) for $900 (thanks to Maelstrom). How can you compete with that?
