Call for interest:

Would anyone be interested in listening to/watching a podcast devoted entirely to battle reports? It would not necessarily be all 40k battles, but it would probably be in an approximately 20 minute long format, maybe once every week or two. I think it would be cool to do some historical games also, with added historical 'educational' content for comparison to the game outcomes.

Please, anyone and everyone, let me know your opinions because I've been kicking around the idea for a few weeks, but I don't really want to even get started on it if no one is interested in listening to or watching battle reports.

I'm thinking 'War Stories' would be a cool title for it...

I would definitely be interested in this kind of podcast as I am always looking for things to listen to when I am painting models. Battle reports have the potential to be relayed to people in a variety of interesting formats. There is the standard, roll the dice- step by step format as well as the fluff based historical view. You could also tell the battle from the eyes of the models on the table and make it action packed and interesting.

A podcast takes quite a bit of work though and it is likely that it will fail if you aren't committed. Do you have any plans on including a co- host? A friend who can keep you on track and give you someone to talk to on the show makes for a more interesting listen and can help tremendously when you need something to talk about. A co- host isn't really a necessity if you keep it twenty minutes long and you can talk the whole time, though.

As you can tell I am incredibly interested in the prospect of this kind of podcast.

Honestly, I haven't gotten that far. I'm not entirely sure what kind of format I really want to go with. I haven't figured out how involved I would like this to be, or how I could put it together. I haven't really even put together whether I want to make it video or audio only. I think that the video may be more successful simply because of the nature of playing a battle, especially for a podcast devoted entirely to watching a wargame. I've also considered trying to put something together like a narrative story depicting the events of the battle with cgi from a the point of view of the commander.
The more I think of this - the more I see it as sort of a tv show in podcast form that focuses on players, the painted models, tactics, luck, and the playing of the games, rather than a narrative story. Maybe those could come later down the road.

That's another thing, I don't think it would work trying to do this with absolutely any unpainted models.

This presents another potential problem - are there any copyright infringement issues for posting a podcast, that I'd like to get sponsored, with GW manufactuerd models.
I would hope not, and it doesn't seem like it should be an issue, but I frankly just don't know. Does anyone have an idea on that one? I'm imagining they would have a fit if I published a game that had pictures of their models in it; does a podcast have the same rules applied to it?
