Eldars codex isnt that old, compared to some other codex. and it still performs really well.

Some may argue that Wave Serpents are over priced because of how good the skimmer rule was in fourth edition but I think they still perform really well and are the best dedicated transport out there (not including land raiders for termies)

P.M. me for rational Eldar Advice, both on list construction or Tactics.

Also feel free to query me about rules from the Eldar and Space Marine codices, as well as the General Rule book.

Space Marines got a new Codex when the 5th ed came out.
That was a bit unfair to other armies that suffer due to their old codices.

I would not be surprised if Eldar will get a new Codex earlier than DE.

Excuse me? Unfair to other Armies????????

Lets take a look shall we:
Firstly, Space Wolves have the oldest Codex, being Printed in April 2000
Then it is Necrons who were published July 2002
Then Daemonhunters, released March 2003
Then it's Dark Eldar, whose Second Printing was November 2003
Then it's Witch Hunters, in April 2004
Then it's Tyranids, printed June 2005
Then it's Black Templars, November 2005 for the Emperors Champions
Then it's the second tau one, Codex: Tau Empire, unleashed unwanted on March 2006

THEN it's Eldar on November 2006.

So Get to the back of the line. Space Wolves, Necrons, Daemonhunters Dark Eldar and Whitchhunters are all 3rd eiditon codex's to boot.

Yeah, I agree Gwar!

Space Wolves are the ones due for the codex... But let me be one hundred percent honest. I do still play my 2k points of vikings in space, but honestly, I hate hearing how people think the codex needs to be redone. I'll be happy when it is updated, you bet, but the codex still is great. Hell, with my pups I win 3/4s of my games played with them, and I don't even play droppod marines. If it ain't broke, don't fix it... Although I'd love to see what the new one does have and how much easier they will be to play. Plus, the fluff that must be in it... *drools*

"From the fires of Betrayal unto the blood of revenge we bring the name of Lorgar, the Bearer of the Word, the favored Son of Chaos, all praise be given to him. From those that would not heed we offer praise to those who do, that they might turn their gaze our way and gift us with the Boon of Pain, to turn the Galaxy red with the blood, and feed the hunger of the Gods."

-Excerpt from the Three Hundred and Forty-First

Book of Epistles of Lorgar

Well, GM is system-relevant to the US industries.

Space Marines is system-relevant to GW, while Space Wolves, DE, ... are not.

Well oddly enough, its pretty much confirmed space wolves are coming out in a few months, and that Nids Crons and Dark Eldar are Slated for 2010/2011

Neither would I. Eldar are a primary army. DE are clearly not.

True, but, none of them are primary armies like SM, IG, CSM, Nids or Orks.

Gwar! wrote:Nids Crons and Dark Eldar are Slated for 2010/2011

Nids & Necrons are under production, but no timeframe was set.

Dark Eldar were pushed back (again) at least a year from now. That doesn't mean they're scheduled for 2010 or 2011.

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

2011 maybe. Tau and Eldar could both use a look but Dark Eldar and Necrons will come first. I think Chaos will be the last book(s) to get updated again.

Well, I remember that DE was announced at forums (not GW) by 2007.
DE is definitely not system-relevant.

I don't understand how anyone can call them putting a stamp on a book an update. What did the army really get? A few price changes in a attempt to help make the army viable, and a few gadgets of wargear that only helped the army with the new assault system that don't really change the dynamics of the game?

I'm sorry, but that doesn't even come close to a new book. I hear the same rumors as most and know that the DE probably will get left in the dust again. Hell, I'd rather them just do the DE like they did the BA. At least they would be closer to the current system.

@Facet, you're right. GW never should have updated the DE Codex.

This is what I was told by a redshirt, that the Dark Eldar are getting not only a new codex but like the Chapter Approved Necrons an entirely new line beginning to end with new sculpts as good as the Dark Elves. So because they're shelling out so much and putting so much effort they want to get this right and won't release it otherwise. And I would much rather wait yet another year for a good codex than for them to release a horrible codex like the last one.

That being said the DE, Eldar, Necrons, Orks, Tau are not a primary moneymaker for GW. Teenagers want to play space marines. And they are the ones that spend the money ( or rather their parents money). I bought Necrons a number of years ago before the codex and played with what I had with a few additions. Years later I play Orks now but with some smart purchases haven't shelled out all that much. So GW isn't making a ton of money off of me or a lot of players like me. Even if those players don't stick with the game the next year more kids become teenagers and they will want to play Space Marines. That's the reason they are so balanced and as forgiving to play. So since nothing is as important as Vanilla SM than everything takes a back burner if needed.

I would not be surprised if Space Marines got yet another Vanilla Codex before some of the Armies that deserve it like the Dark Eldar.

I do think if GW didn't think DE could be profitable then they would have went the way of the Squats.

Still denying the book exists even after multiple confirmations from different designers?

It's funny how you weigh a single internet rumour (it may be on hold!) and put it higher than the likes of Jervis, Andy and Jes.

I think what got the Eldar Players excited (myself included) and drawn to this thread was the blurb from Gamesday Spain...

News drifts over from across the pond...

The GD Spain presentation was given by Robin Cruddace, (of Codex: Imperial Guard). He laid out several products in the channel up until August, including Planetstrike and Planetary Empires. He noted that all the new kits (such as the Ironclad) are plastic and that even newer armies (such as the Eldar) will be recieving updates here and there in plastic.

So after reading that and seeing this thread...I thought I'd take a look, hoping to see which Eldar unit would be getting some Plastic lovin'...

*crosses fingers and murmurs to self*...."Wraithguard, wraithguard, wraithguard"

@Rangerrob:

Nice try, but no cigar on plastic Wraithguard.

GW will update the Fire Prism and Shuricannon Jetbike from mixed-metal before they deal with all-metal Wraithguard.

Or Aspects.

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

Do we want plastic Aspects though? There are two ways to do it:

1. A plastic kit for each, which would be total awesomesauce, but do you really expect GW to do a new box for Scorps, Banshees, Hawks, Spiders, Reapers and Spears in plastic in a single release - they only get so many new frames a year! With the way GW's waves are going you'd end up waiting 3 years to get plastic Reapers or Hawks.
2. A generic 'build anything' kit that allows you to build 5-10 Aspect Warriors of any type.

No, wait, there's a third:

3. Jervis writes the next Eldar Codex and we get a single 'Generic Aspect Warrior' Elites choice.
