So I just accidentally bought a Leman Russ squadron from ebay for 90 bucks :.( This got me to wondering if other people have had misadventures with ebay.

how do you do that by accident?

Also, hate ebay in general, although it does have uses.

I collect:
Guard - 2k of mostly infantry
DA - 2k of deathwing, 2k of other bits (no vehicles)
Sisters - mostly converted/proxy because I'm waiting for therange to go plastic.
Tau - 2k with no riptides because I can.

No it did not include shipping that was 12 bucks more... I meant to bid 75 bucks on this auction and 175 bucks on a different auction. Kinda lucky some schmuck didn't push the price higher.

Oh, and on the other auction I lost. Now I can't find anyone putting the items up for bid.

I was buying what I thought was my start to a CSM army it was 1500 points with Kharn and I thought ok so I can start with Vanilla marines and proxy them to be cult troops until I decided which way I wanted to go and then I got the models....

About 70% were SM models and the old style plastic ones to boot. (The ones that are plastic but have the same clip in as the metal figs do now) I did get a few CSMs but that was mostly just heads and maybe a torso or two if I was lucky..... also these models looked like they were painted by a 2 yr old, I mean I know that I can not paint but at least I dont pretend like I can! Worst of all the pics were really bad so I didnt know what I was getting myself into otherwise I would have stayed far, far away. It was a 60 dollar misadventure with ebay to say the least...

For $100+ USD, I'll gladly take the Non-Paying Bidder alert and wait for it to expire.

Oh, wait.

I haven't bought on eBay in over a year.

I've had a few misadventures selling items! I almost always start them at a penny and let the market drive them up. But when you're putting up thirty auctions, sometimes one slips through the cracks! I had a few auctions worth what I thought would be $10-$20, go for $2.75 and $2.76, respectively, this time around

I'm glad for the lucky bidder, though! And it evens itself out because other auctions get driven higher than I'd expected

Someone hacked an account I had and tried buying some movies and cds. Luckily the card on that paypal account was totally useless and old, but once I DID log back in for old times sake I had some emails from really pissed off people wanting to know why I didnt pay and EBAY was writting me about the matter. It was taken care of easily enough but still kind of a misadventure.
Mostly tho, I dont like ebay....they charge you for EVERYTHING to post stuff

I like ebay, you can get the odd good deal. I managed to sell my Vraks part 1 book for more money than on FW (not including shipping). Not a misadventure for me but certainly for the buyer, not that im complaining!

Yea my brother had a selling misadventure a few years back. He sold two really expensive Knoll chiars for 2500 bucks to some dood in california. Basically the guy got the chairs and claimed shipping insurance on them so FedEx would refund the money, then went to PayPal and canceled payment. So the guy got 5000 bucks out of it and my brother ended up with 2500 negative with PayPal which they promptly charged him another 500 for not paying the bill and then another 150 for going negative, oh and his bank charged him 150 bucks for going negative in his account as well. When he complained to PayPal they called him an idiot and told him he got screwed but they are getting their money no matter what. They even took 4 of his other sales that were pending and took the money.

Best part is eBay removed his account because the guy complained to eBay and told them my brother stole his money. They didn't even investigate and the guy is still buying and scamming people on eBay to this day.

And that is why some of us refuse to sell on eBay, and why eBay is slowly circling its way down the toilet.
