Burnas, Lootas, Kommandoes, Tankbustas, Nobs?
Which is the most fun, or most competitive and why?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Burnas seem to be a lot of dangerous fun, but very fragile, with their limited range

lootas seem to be very formidable foes, spitting out tons of shots with high strength, but also fragile

kommandoes are the cheapest, but are most similar to the regular ork boy. With Snikrot, they have a powerful outflanking skil, which could take temporary pressure off of a footsloggin army

tankbustas-meh they have rokkits but the rule making them always go for vehicles seem to detract a lot

nobs- my personal favorite with the addition of a painboy, nobs effectively gain double their already 2 wounds and gives the option of half price cybork bodies. Nobs have all sorts of heavy cc what with painboys, power klaws, big choppas, and waaagh banners. Lastly, nobs have the versatility of a troop choice when taken with a warboss

My order goes like this
1. nobs
2. lootas
3. kommandos
4. burnas
5. tankbustas

1. kommandos
2. nobz
3. burnas
4. lootas
5.tankbustas

kommandos with snukky and 2 burnas is an auto include in 90% of my lists. im starting to come around on nobz and burna boyz, making my first units of them for the new book. lootas dont fit my slaystyle, but i do have 15 of the buggerz and will use them on occasion to mix it up, they usually do well enough. tankbustas have uses, but i just dont like to use them.

There ain't nearly enough Salvage in this thread!

Nobz are just great overall, as are Lootas. Kommandos are still real great, especially with Snikrot, but they are still expensive points wise for their job. Tankbustas can actually bust tanks once in a while, but usually they die. Burnas are specialized and although they count as power weapons in CC, they're also expensive

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

I've used Tankbustas a fair bit - most people seem to dislike them, but they've always done well for me. Burnas are great when facing horde Guard or Nids, but aren't something I'd auto-include.
Nobz are the best for me. Simply because they have pretty high survivability, and can do a bit of everything. No matter what army you end up facing, Nobz seem to get the job done.

I wouldnt take nobs not on bikes. The speed, toughness, armour and cover save makes them so much more effective. Without them they always seem to have a bit of trouble reaching their foes, even if they they are in a transport, and dont have the shooting to deal with anything at range.

Lootas are still just nuts. Lootas are the best thing orks have for killing enemy transports and MCs. They also do a reasonable job against most infantry.

Burnas are also amasing, but have a bit of trouble because they cant take a trukk. Give them a battlewagon and they become crazy. Being able to drop 15 flamer templates will kill practically any infantry. Heavier infantry (like terminators) and MCs can be dealt with on a charge because you then have 15 orks all armed with power weapons. Thats quite good.

I like kommandos. With snikrot and two burnas they can do a lot of damage. Outflaking without the aid of snikrot is ok but again i think lack of a dedicated transport hurts them somewhat.

I dont like tank bustas. They're too easy to kite with a vehicle beyond their range so that they dont do much. Addtionally only one shot each at BS2 can make it hard to them to deal with infantry. Theyre good at killing TMCs though.

So my order would be:

(Nob bikers)
Lootas
Burnas
Kommandos
Nobs
Tankbustas

If we were to play each other in a tournament, not only would I table you, I would murder you, your family, every woman you ever loved and burn down your house. I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live?

I love kommandos with Snikrot. For some reason I play alot of gunline armies and watching 15 orks come on from behind their lines, move and assault 13-18 inches from the table edge, and eat 2-3 squads of guard or tau brings a tear to my eye.

The most potentially effective is probably lootas, but they are a fragile unit on their own, and require good rolling to be effective- with ork BS even a maxed squad that gets 3 shots each averages 7 hits.

I dont like nobs, in my lists they become a big target, because they are a point sink, and most of my units are much cheaper. My opponent seems to pick on the one 350 point unit rather than the 4 other 160 point units.

umm - the lootas will average 15 hits on a roll of 5 or 6 for # of shots.

I'd say it depends on what you take in the rest of your list. Each of them serves a different role in an army. If your army is fairly well balanced and you just need an all around nice unit, it is hard to go wrong with nobs.

This is prolly the best answer.

My own list would prolly be-

1. Kommando
2a. Nobz
2b. Lootas
4. Burnas
5. Tankbustas

Outflanking is beautiful, especially if you ge to pick any edge of the table. I'd take nobz as troops but only as troops, and I'd definitely take a transport. Lootas seem to be incredible at tank and MC killing.
