Kannons, Lobbas, ZZzap?
Which is the best for an ork army?

lobbas seem to be a decent addition to ork ranged/heavy support with the str5 ap5 blast, as well as not needing LOS, but kannons are 5 points cheaper and have the versatility of frags which are only one less strength and having the shell with decent tank bustin ability

i won lobbas and wil run them from tiem to time, but in all honesty, big gunz are a bot lacking. the zzap is good, but not as reliable as rokkits on kans for me.

Stay away from the zzap.

Kannons 3 str 8 shots for 60pts at BS3 for Orks winner!

Kannons are the way to go blast for infantry and shells for light vehicles.

I would definately vote for the kannons... I've seen them take out plenty of dreadnoughts and light tanks in their days.. and 60 pts for a basic gun battery is NOTHING

The best big gunz are the ones you dont take and spend the points on a unit worth having. No big gun really fills a role that another unit does better, with the added bonus of the other unit being less fragile than a bunch of grots with guns.

A kannon is a stand alone missile launcher. S8 means they can glance AV 14, and a unit of 3 doesn't even come close to being effective stopping that armor. It can hit transports, infantry, and speeders with decent results, but lootas do it better.

Lobbas are probably the least useful of the lot, because S5 AP5 small templates really give your army nothing you can't get elsewhere. I guess they would be good in combating horde orks or guard, but even then, I would rather have more boyz on the ground than S5 template shots.

I actually rather like the zzap guns, despite the fact that they are unreliable. 36" ap2 variable strength. It is the Ap 2 that I like, and it is really the only long ranged AP2 orks have. The issue is, if you are not playing against marines or tau, chances are you will not make your points back. These guns are for shooting at infantry, and hoping for a decent strength; it is foolish to target a vehicle when, chances are, you will roll a strength value too low to scratch the paint. Rokkits fill this role more reliably, and, come to think of it, so do kannons.

A friend of mine took a battery of Kannons the last game we played. We both forgot about his ammo runts and the guns did nothing, but kill maybe two guardsmen. I agree with Elnicko on the pros and cons of each.

In my friends case he just scrapped the guns and took some Kans with Rokkit Launchas in their place. Provides armor and a BS 3 rokkit.

I agree a Kan would be better but if you are determined to take field guns, the kannon would be the choice.

I have to agree with the majority of the other posters here,if your going to use a big gunz battery then kannonz are the way to go.
However,kanz are a better choice all the way around.

I only use Big Gunz on me Wagons.

But I'd say the Zzap Gun.

Kannonz are also good.

I'd go with Kans, but if I had to take Big Gunz, I'd go with Kannons.
