I'm Bored. Help me come up with the origins for each current USR.

Two I know off the top of my head are Furious Charge and Feel No Pain, both stemming from the 3rd ed Blood Angel Codex

I also think Fearless started off in the Chaos Codex.

Run used to be Fleet.....

Oh, Rending used to be a handful of weapons, and then blossomed to at least 1 per 'dex.

"I went into a hobby-shop to play m'self a game,
The 'ouse Guru 'e up an' sez "The Guard is weak and lame!"
The Chaos gits around the shelves they laughed and snickered in my face,
I outs into the street again an' grabbed my figure-case."
Oh it's "Angels this" an' "Space-wolves that", and "Guardsmen, go away!";
But it's "Thank you for the ordnance" when the Guard begins to play,
O it's "LOOK AT ALL THE ORDNANCE!" when the Guard begins to play.."

Yeah I remember the Stubborn rule from the 3rd ed DA codex. Oddly enough it was more like fearless than the stubborn we have today

Where did SaP come from? Obliterators?

The Emperor doesn't seem to do much for you but you sure are expected to be mutilated, suffer, and die to make him happy. And is he dead or what? If he's entombed that would mean he's dead as a doornail, right? So, how can he be happy about anything you do, or even give orders to anyone? Are you worshipping the dead now? Is that something you'd really want to do? Because it sounds freaking creepy to me.

Not Oblits, but the Old OLD OLD Chaos Dex (the very first 3rd edition one printed in 1999) has the rule listed for Thousand Sons.

And the correct Acronym is SnP, not SaP (As in Slow 'n' Purposeful)

Eternal Warrior came from the Bad Space Marines Who Are Spiky. The name did, anyway. Immunity to instant death has been around for a long time.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Indeed they did, and counter assault is now part of the general assault rules.

In fact if you REALLY want to go back, the Wolves had one of the last RT army lists which was the template for the 2nd edition marines (and on to now). They had the first servitors (still in production!) and servo arms. I can't remember what other innovations but I think there were some.

Those wolfs are trendsetters!

I could be wrong but I think the first indirect fire rules were from the 2nd edition IG book.

And rapid first IIRC was a marine only rule in 2nd edition. Cause only THE SPASE MURINEZ know how to pull a trigger twice.

Stubborn and Fearless were both in the 2nd edition main rulebook, I do not know if they were in the original game or not.

Not sure, I don't think it started life in a codex, as it has been around since at least 2nd ed. Codex: Ultramarines (The old one not the new one) has "Infiltration" as a Scout Special Rule and says to reffer to the Rulebook.

The first non-2nd ed model to have Fearless are the 1k Sons in the 3rd edition BBB. The rule is virtually identical to today.

Hormagaunts famously had Leaping, which allowed them to attack with full attacks as long as they were within 2" of a model in Btb, not just in BtB as required by 3rd edition. In the BBB, this rule was called Bounding Leap, but was essentially the same.

The curret artillery rules come from Ork Big Gunz in the BBB.

The original, non-revised DE book has the following rules:
Fleet
Feel no Pain (different from the current USR)
Turboboost

The DE revision included:
A form of stealh (Mandrakes)
Hit & Run

3rd Edition Marines had:
Move through cover (scouts had the current version)
