Hello there, I'm Mark, I joined Dakka a few months ago and have been lurking around ever since.

I started collecting Eldar in 96/97 until about 2001 when I stopped playing. Fast forward 8 years and I found out that my hosuemate was a closet gamer, and he invites me to a games night he attends weekly. So the old spark was re-ignited and I decide to get back into it! Unfortunately my eldar army was very badly painted first time around, and I have been too ashamed to even bring some of my models, so I have decided to strip all the models and re-paint them.

My painting skills certainly arent the best, but it's certainly an improvement on the way things were!

I started off with the Wraithlord, I thought that it was a larger model and would be easier to paint as there was less fine detail.

I stuck some stones and static grass on the base, I was quite pleased with the results. Perhaps I will return to it when I get my painting skills up a bit.

Looks good. You might want to consider thinning down your paints as the white looks very chalky, which usually means you're putting it on too thickly. Look into a product called Liquitex Flow-Aid.

Also if you're going to strip them down, file off those old mold lines

Thanks for that advice, I definately need to thin the paints a bit. It's particularly noticable on the head of that wraithlord.

Did you prime white or black? If you did black I would recommend switching to white as
1. White is one of your main colors
2. Black to white(That ain't right) but on a more serious note this is kind of annoying to do
3. Red looks just as good on white as it does on black.

Don't knock your skills, it looks good especially the basing.

I actually primed it Grey, but I will prime the next thing I paint white to see how that goes! Thanks for the advice chum.

I decided to post a picture of my Farseer, he's a great looking model that I haven't seen too much of around these parts. I dont think I am going to re-paint him, he looks fine the way he is, unless anyone has any suggestions?

Perhaps he does need a bit of a touch up actually looking at these. I have found this chap invaluable in the few matches I have played since starting the hobby again. He can often be found casting guide on a support weapon battery. He met a nasty death a few weeks ago at the hands (claws) of a hive tyrant. I should probably think of a name for him actually...

Hello again, I have painted up a squad of guardians. I am quite pleased with the results, perhaps my paint needs a bit more thinning, but these look less chalky than the wraithlord. My first attempts at highlighting are here with some mixed results... the camera hasn't been kind to them!

I always refer to this guy as "Owen Wilson" when he does battle. I don't think he has survived a battle yet (possibly because he is a guardian). I don't know why he has a flamer considering only storm squads are allowed them. Makes him stand out just the same though.

This is one of the female guardians, she is meant to be lobbing a grenade!

I really like these figures.

Anyway, working on the D-cannon battery at the moment, just 2 crew with ridiculous haircuts left to paint!

I really like your stuff, my only criticism would be the farseer's helm, replace the lurid green with bone or something. Spectrum wise 'red and green should never be seen'...well, except for kult of speed orks and they work cos orks are supposed to clash, unlike the harmonious elder.

Thank you sir. That Farseer is definately a bit of a throw back to the 2nd edition. I suppose you don't see too many Farseers nowadays with green helmets and pink slippers. Perhaps a white helmet would be more in keeping with the rest of the army.

Good highlights there, looks like you could use a finer brush though... They are a bit wide for my taste.

As others have said, the farseer is really KAPOW! when you see him for the first time, and white would fit better with the rest of the army. Unless you want him to stand out that is...

Back on the path of the Imperial Citizen

Still rolling ones...

Hmm, maybe it's better that he stands out?

I have finished my support weapons battery, 3 D-cannons. I used to love these things (still do, but what happened to the displacement chart??).

Sorry, not the clearest pictures in the world

I was quite proud of the gemstone on that baby.

I also started painting up my fire dragons after they performed very well in the last game I played against some Dark Angels. This is just a rough WIP shot. I went for the standard red body with yellow helmet, but I tried to darken it all down a bit. I had kind of thought about sticking some green in there somewhere, as I always pictured dragons as being green, but in the end I just thought it would have looked out of place. Anyway, he still needs a bit of work, spirit stone etc.
