I read that only one SOB fell to the lure of chaos Miriael Sabathiel. It is quite hard to believe that only a single Sister fell to the corruption of Chaos during all these thousands of years, but possible nevertheless. I wonder how a sqaud of "evil sisters" would be played...

It's also possible to play sisters as specially trained and gifted chaos troops, rather then specifically fallen sisters.

(could be imperial propaganda. like no Dark Angels fell)

The claim probably does sound ridiculous when you think that even Commissars and Inquisitors sometimes turn--indeed, all three are students from the Schola Progenium. In other words, Ecclesiarchy doctrine is their mother's milk. But the Sisters have a special, ultimately uncritical devotion to the God Emperor found nowhere else. I think it's a result of their cloistered lifestyle. That and the fact that, as regular (as opposed to genetically enhanced) human women in a patriarchal culture, they are not given over to excessive pride and ambition.

. . . or does that sound a bit sexist itself?

You could put it that way, but why use hard to find genetic technology when good old fashioned brainwashing via religious fanaticism works fine? It was good enough for our ancestors and it's good enough for us.

No sister has fallen from the Emperors light!
Blessed be those whos devotion is unstained!
Repent you evildoers! Repent! Repent!

In all seriousness, it would be entirely possible to physically corrupt a sister (i.e. nurgle) but all but impossible to make them WILLINGLY turn from the Emperor.

As it is, burning a lot of people, innocent or not, they could certainly be called evil. (By modern standards).

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. The entire notion of a member of the Inquisition falling to Chaos is unbeliveable, but it could happen. In a novel I read a high ranking Commissar in the Inquisition had been working for nurgle the entire time, so I guess it can happen.

There was fluff about a corrupted sisters convent that turned to Slaanesh, now for sexual reasons, but because they loved to torture too much. It is in one of the codexs. Cookies to whoever finds it.

And whilst you're pointing and shouting at the boogeyman in the corner, you're missing the burglar coming in through the window.

Well, Duh! Because they had a giant Mining ship. If you had a giant mining ship you would drill holes in everything too, before you'd destory it with a black hole

Whoa....wheres all this fluff coming from? Inquisition coming from the Schola Progenium? Thats not right! Sure, some might, but thats not an exclusive "recruiting" ground! Inquisitors genrally work their way up from a lowly operative working for an established Inq, if noticed and recognised for talent, they become an acolyte, and from there they can become a fully fledged Inq.

Beastmaster mentioned a Commissar in the Inquisition?!?! Never, Commissars are attached to Imperial Guard regiments, and can even lead regiments if given the title, Commissar Lords....but Commissars and Inquisitors have nothing directly to do with each other, an Inquisitor is the highest rank of Imperial Agent, below a High Lord of Terra!

Sorry to derail the thread so slightly, but those fluff elements needed to be corrected

What makes the Imperium patriarchal?

The Emperor doesn't seem to do much for you but you sure are expected to be mutilated, suffer, and die to make him happy. And is he dead or what? If he's entombed that would mean he's dead as a doornail, right? So, how can he be happy about anything you do, or even give orders to anyone? Are you worshipping the dead now? Is that something you'd really want to do? Because it sounds freaking creepy to me.

There are several female inquisitors. What else? (Not trying to being a dick, serious question.)

No one said it was exclusive.

Fluffwise?

Much of the Imperial Guard, the entirety of the Adeptus Sororirtas, many commissars, half of the Adeptus Mechanicus, half of the Imperial Navy, much of the planetary governance. Everything but the Space Marines is supposed to have a sizable female population, and the Space Marines have very little interaction with the rest of the Imperium.

This tends to be a "tell not show" effect though, as the fiction tends to have more male characters, and there are few female human models besides the sisters of battle. Also, individual planets have their own rules, so they could easily be patriarchal.

Well put. So the wimminz constitute a whole cast of characters that are never seen or heard from. Maybe I'm just confused. Seems like it's GW that is patriarchal . . . but this is likely a de facto circumstance.

I thought an inquistor could employ anyone he/she chooses to. If you can have members of the IG become part of an inquistor's team why can't a commissar?

No doubt a side effect of the overwhelmingly male readership/gamership. Same reason Space Marines are over-represented when they're supposed to be so rare. People like the space marines, and they like male protagonists and models since most of the readers and gamers are male. (That's also probably why there are a lot more caucasian models than any other race, despite the fact that they're supposed to come from planets all over the galaxy.)

I agree with you there tigonesskay. If an inquisitor feels that a particular commissar could be more useful serving with them, then no one could stop them from inducting the commissar into their forces.

SOBs fall to chaos all the time. Read the Cain books. A whole squad of the SOBs were corrupted due to chaos sourcery. Of course once the spell was broken, they promptly blew their own brains out, BUT IT STILL COUNTS!

It only counts of they welcomed the corruption of their own free will. Any human being will have a breaking point espeically when it comes to chaos.

You can't be evil if you're under the influence of mind control. It can't even make a paladin fall in D&D.
