Hello folks,

Got a question for you - in the heat of battle, would it be unheard of for a Genestealer to "kiss" an opponent? I'm just returning to the hobby after twenty years (yikes!) and do not have a Tyranid Codex.

Thankee.

In the dark future of 21st millennium, there is only Wal-Mart.

I think, once a battle is joined by the larger Tyranid swarm, that Genestealers going about starting genestealer cults would be unnecessary.

Dakka. You need more of it. No exceptions.

What are you talking about? They're Space Marines, which are heroic. They need to be able to do all the heroic stuff. They fight aliens and don't afraid of anything. -Orkeosarus

Yeah, I guess it depends on the battle.

If they're just genestealers from a space hulk or working for a cult they'd probably kiss their enemies if they have a good opportunity.

If they're part of a full swarm it probably wouldn't make any sense to try and kiss people, seeing as they're eating everything anyways. Then again, if there's no real drawback to kissing their enemy, they may do so on the off chance that the host survives.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

I understand that they used to have an ability that allowed them to infect opposing models so that they had a random chance to explode into so many Genestealers during a battle. Neat, but definitely not part of canon anymore.

To "Kiss" an oponent, in terms of fluff, Genestelers hypnotise the potential host and then inpregnate them. The new host then wakes up some time later not remembering a thing. I've alwasy felt that I just wouldnt be practical in the heat of battle to getting up to hanky'panky.

They tend to try and seporate people from the group hypnotise them, inpregnate and then run off. That way the host has no way of noing and other are less suspicious.

I doubt they'd kiss them just to start a cult. But maybe they'd kiss them if they met that special someone....

Awwww. Reminds me of a comic i once read...

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

In one of the cain novels, several people (including Tau) are impregnated a short time after being cut off from the main group.

So it might be possible in a the midst of battle for the last few survivors of a squad to be "kissed", as you put it, by stealers, before they move on to take out another squad.

So they knock you out and then they...

OH GOD! The horrible images!

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Lookin' fur daemons ta' fight!

To "kiss" means to infect with genetic material, turning the victim(s) into hybrid genstealers. Sometmes they'll just hypnotize people preferably people in an IG PDF so that they dont set up defenses and all the will being a psychic beacon to its hive fleet.
