Is it just me or are there no left arms to match the Rokkit/ big shoota arms for the mek in the lootas box? Basically have to give them a Kustom Blasta huh?

I bought the Loota box and noticed the same thing. You have to search your bits box for something to make it work.
I wanted to equip my mek with a big shoota, so I ended up using the AOBR Big Shoota and chopped an arm off the accompanying boy.

which is whacky because there is a picture of a mek with the two weapons in the assembly guide...

Doesn't it use the kustom mega blasta arm? Seems logical from a GW design view.

Haha, yeah logical. The rokkit and big shoota are right handed, the kustom blasta is left

Who said it had to be logical? Their logic is thus, you buy box A. and try to build said mek. BUT there is a few parts missing for this. So you either, build one from bitz OR buy box B. that has the part. Now your mek looks good, BUT now your out whatever build from box B. So you end up buying a SM drednaught to make you feel better, but you get surprised when you notice Dred A doesnt have its basic melta attachment. They planned it that way lol. Enjoy the ride
