Till this day I've been a pure witch-hunter, mixing it up with guard.

Now, with the die-hard struggle between the fans of Sanguinius and Russ, I'm very seriously swayed to go blood angels.
Here are my reasons.

1) You can have assualt Marinz as troops!
2) Cool Fluff.
3) Cool Paint scheme.
4) Cool Primarch.
5) Dante is made of GOLD!
6) The whole army can deepstrike
7) Furisio Dreadnoughts (don't know much about them)

Please post anything you know about blood angels. I know that they have thier own codex but not really anything about how they work. Really, ANY info would be useful. Especially from Blood Angel Playas.

If I were to start over with Marines, from purely a playstyle point of view, I would go BA. I've found that the assault style game is much more to my liking than a more shooting phase oriented game. The BA excel at in your face combat. The Furioso pattern dreadnought is a CC beast compared to the standard dreads, but with so much melta doom in current armies it could go down before it gets a chance to unleash the beast. The Baal pattern predator looks pretty good versus infantry, but it's flamer sponsons need to do their work in assault range of enemies and so it suffers the same problem as the Furioso. Overcharged rhinos are really nice.

That's about it from my take on the army.

Your side is always the "will of the people" the other side is always fundamentalist, extremist, hatemongers, racists, anti- semitic nazies with questionable education and more questionable hygiene. American politics 101.

Furisio Dreads are wonderfully fun. They can be even more fun when you make them DC Dreads and give them even more attacks. Also don't forget about the DC Marines they are just nasty. Put them with Lemartes and Boom you can get a squad of FNP rending marines with jump packs.

Lemartes lets you control them as well as give them furious charge. IIRC

Lemartes doesn't give the DC furious charge. They have it. He doesn't. Lemartes (or a regular chappy) lets the DC reroll misses on the turn they charge.

Furioso are cool and they can dish out a lot of damage when upgraded to DC and given a pod. Up to 7 S10 attacks on the charge.

Baal predators work better with the heavy bolters.

Dante and Corbulo form the basis of the only real power build the BA have. Corbulo gives furious charge to units with 12" and Dante gives preferred enemy within12". It's a powerful combination but can be tricky to pull off. In smaller points games most people just take Lemartes with the DC because Dante and Corbulo are too expensive.

Your Hq option should always include Lemmy or a Chaplain, to control the DC you get included in the points cost of every infantry squad. Otherwise you'll have them chasing empty transports around the whole game.

Corbulo can also control the DC. Putting the DC in a rhino can give you a good measure of control if you don't take a chaplain or Corbulo.

Also true!

As an additional note: I almost never take the assault squads as troops, because for 10 points per squad more you can get a veteran assault squad that gives them an additional attack. I stick to tac squads to fill the troop org. slots, which is usually fine anyway because you need a few tac squads to give a decent fire-base to manuever the assault squads around.

Yes Fox, but Vets aren't scoring units with jet packs. That's why regular Assaulters cost so much.

Regardless, I think it isn't worth the points. Tactical squads give you plenty of scoring units, esp. if you combat squad them.

You should also play Blood Angels for the irony of having a chapter with one of the most fluff of any in the game.. yet having a codex that has no fluff and is like 20 pages

Awwwww, no fluff in the codex? What is this?!?

Anyway, one of the biggest attractions of Blood Angels is that Assualt Marinz are troops, so whether or not you win deployment you get to see your opponent deploy and you place them where they are precisely meant to be. (The thrill of a deepstriking GOOD army!)

Also, with all the DC thrown about I'm guessing that DC stands for Death Company? Not difficulty class?

Tell me more about how the Furisio works! Pleeeeez?

I saw a post where it said that Assualt marinz aren't worth the points. Is this true? How much are they?

Deep Striking BA assault marines doesn't work well. Their job is assault and they can't do that when they deep strike. The best they can manage is to shoot with their bolt pistols and up to three plasma pistols.

They are more expensive than the assault marines in the SM codex because of how the death company works now where each infantry unit you buy earns you a "free" DC marine for the death company. It's not free because the price is built in to the infantry squads. The basic assault squad in the SM dex runs 100 points, but the BA one starts at 140. The BA assaulters are scoring, but they don't have some of the weapon options that the vanilla guys get.

The normal furioso is pretty cool, but he's just a regular dread with two close combat arms instead of a heavy weapon like a multimelta or plasma cannon. He comes with a storm bolter and a regular meltagun. So he's very short-ranged and optimized to get in your face. So most people use drop pods to get them where they need to go, but it doesn't always work well.

Well with planetstrike they must suddenly be getting a lot more of a chance to dig into assualt.

What's this I hear about a DC dread and about 7 attacks on a charge?

Most dreadies only get 2 or something.

Anyway, BA fluff WAY beats Puppeh fluff. Don't even argue about it. It is an imovable fact of the ooniverse. Like the awesomeness of Chuck Norris. Only an idiot would dispute either of these facts.

I have only played two games of 40K but I elected to go with Blood Angels as my primary army. I started off with fantasy (so many years ago) and always said if I got into 40K, I would go the way of Sanguinias.

A cool thing with the Furioso Dreadnought is with the death company upgrade, you get extra attacks.

You also get the over charged engine rule with your rhinos and Baal Predators, where you may be able to treat them as fast vehicles.

What is a youth? Impetuous fire.
What is a maid? Ice and desire.

The Death Company dreadnought is an upgraded furioso. He has 2 base attacks. He gets a third attack because he has two close combat arms. The DC upgrade gets him an extra D3 attacks. And then when he charges he gets an extra one too. So he normally has 4 to 6 attacks. Charging makes this 5 to 7. The downside of the DC upgrade is that you can't control where he moves unless you have a chaplain or corbulo within 6" of him at the start of his movement.

Cool, very cool.

But a Normal Furisio Dread would get 3 attacks? (4 on a charge?)

Also, is there a downside (apart from him not moving at all) to the DC choice? Does he move via scatter? Or to the nearest enemy?(which is fine by me)

Furioso is 3 attacks, 4 on the charge.

The DC Black Rage rule that the DC dread and the DC marines have requires them to move (as far as they can) towards the closest enemy unit unless there is a chaplain or corbulo within 6" of the start of the movement phase. So you can't move a chaplain close and then try to move the DC however you wish. Most folks just run the DC with a chaplain or keep them in a rhino where the rage rule doesn't affect them until they disembark. The rage rule only specifies the movement the DC must make. They don't have to run, shoot or assault.
