If Death Korps came in plastic, I'd have a platoon right now. Resin models from FW? Might as well be made of unobtanium. If all the above were in plastic, definitely Death Korps, with Elysian a close second. As things stand now, if I were to start from scratch, Cadians.

Valks and Vultures strafing targets and tons of guard deepstriking in. Plus the Vulture is going to get Punisher cannons soon. Either 20 TL or 40 shots, awesome.

Vostroyan. I like DKoK and Steel Legion, but the Vostroyans are the most 40K-y 40K army in a long time, like the concept sketches just leapt off the page and became an army.
I was torn between Mordian and Valhallan. Picked Mordian, ultimately. I want both in plastic, though -- since the gods of Games Workshop have not decided to descend from on high and bless us with such things, when I get around to building IG, it'll be Cadian. =/

And that is why you hear people yelling FOR THE EMPEROR rather than FOR LOGICAL AND QUANTIFIABLE BASED DECISIONS FOR THE BETTERMENT OF THE MAJORITY!

I have a full Vostroyan army, but I'm hoping to start a Death Korps force. I'm gonna pick up some Forge World stuff at German Games Day, and I'll just build my force up Forge World order by Forge World order. It'll be a nice project, and I already have five other armies (one of them Guard, as mentioned), so it's not like it'll slow me down from gaming.
I just love the look of the drop troops with shotguns.

Congratulations, your dismissive and conclusory commentary has provided nothing to this discussion or the wider community on whose behalf you arrogantly presume to speak nor does it engage in any meaningful way the remark it lamely targets. But you did manage to gain experience points toward your next level of internet tough guy.

If the Catachan's didn't look like the steroid-version of Barry Bonds, I'd be more inclined to go with them.

Some people prefer to create IG regiments other those you have listed...
i think he means model-wise. Which model style would you like to base your guard off of.

Although I have a pretty large Vostroyan army that I love to pieces, I voted cadian. Here's why..
Between them and the catachans they have the most robust plastic line of models. They even beat out the catachans as all of the plastic tank riding models from the vehicle accessory sprue match them pretty well, as does the tank commander on the baneblade and probably this new tank commander we've seen popping out of the hellhound (the coat and cap not the rebreather)
The style of equipment and guns mean you can glue most all of the accessories onto your tanks from the accessory frame. I've had to skip most of the cool gubbins on all my vossie tanks because vossies use expensive fancy hand made lasguns, whereas the tanks have machine stamped lascarbines.
Lastly, if you don't enjoy converting your own 'counts as' models. I believe the cadian special character set beats out the catachan special character set by a hair in terms of competitiveness and fun.
But I do love my vostroyans a lot, and I'd only consider switching off of them if they were lost in a fire or if my entire collection were stolen.
Tanith first and only because you can convert them from almost any model (i think) because they recruit from the planets they visit I'll just use green stuff to make the camo cloaks
COVER IS FOR THE WEAK

I know what he meant. My wip "Martyr Brethren" inducted IG for my Witch Hinters are 100% GW models and are based on none of those choices and I have seen others that have done same...

Exactly, don't the Vostroyan have nice fancy hand tooled lasguns and armour? The Vostroyans are very not Russian in terms of equipment and style. The only thing that is kinda Russian is their face. But even that looks more akin to a stylized Greek God. Valhallan on the other hand are almost a cookie cutter version of the Red Army. Exhibit A) They are from an Ice world. Exhibit B) Commander Chenkov, Russian name coupled with Russian Tactics. Exhibit C) Valhallan uniform looks very much like a Red Army uniform. Bottom line is Vostroyans are not Russian; Valhallans are.

Valhallans mirror soviet russians during the world war 2 era.
Vostroyans mirror tsarist russians (especially cossacks) during the late 1800s and early 1900s.
Valhallan design influences are easier to spot, mostly because the tech level of the 1940s is a lot closer to grimdark than turn of the century technology. And because we are all so familiar with Ivan.
Well put, Shep. I am just glad nobody has asked who the Tallarn are supposed to represent. I swear I had better never see somebody come in with Tallarn demo-charge teams modeled up to be martyrs, otherwise I am throttling said person. Its a disrespect to those of us who served in uniform.
