Me and my friend were playing our first game with Chaos Daemons and Tyranids and everything was going fine until I tryed to kill his Soulgrinder. We were most likely reading the rules wrong because it seemed like the only thing that could hurt it at all was my Carnifex shooting his Venom Cannon and rolling a 6. Now we're wondering if the Soulgrinder is really THAT good or if we're reading something wrong (which we probably are).

The soulgrinder is a walker with armor values 13 13 11. It is a Daemon though, so it ignores stunned and shaken damage results. Your Carnifex could have ripped it apart in hand to hand.

From the way I understood it, from the front or sides, I had to roll a 6 to kill it and from the back i had to roll 5 or 6. Is that correct?

Carnifex's get 2d6 when attacking vehicles, so you would automatically penetrate it, unless your Carnifex was S9 and you rolled snake eyes (9+1+1=11)

One more question, do all models get 2 die against vehicles, or can most of my army not hurt the soulgrinder at all.

Pretty sure it's only your MC's that get 2D6 for armour penetration.

Okay, thanks.

A carnifex firing a venom cannon is S10. You would need to roll a 3+ on your armor penetration roll to glance it since Venom Cannons can only score glancing hits against the soul grinder.

Is that a special rule about Venom Cannons, Hawkeye?

I think it's also necessary to point out that you only get the Str + 2d6 when ASSAULTING the vehicle, Bryan.

Yes. Venom Cannons can only score glancing hits against vehicles that are not open topped.

I've never had the pleasure of playing against a Tyranid army, so I just wanted to be sure. It makes sense though...unless it were called "Acid Cannon."

Nope. You use the front armor when fighting a walker in hth.

When someone smiles at me, all I see is a chimpanzee begging for its life.
