Read the title.
In the next ed of Marines, should ALL chapters, be combined into one codex?
Example 1: In the current vanilla codex, there is the option of mounting your commander, so that bikes become troop choices. This integrates White Scars and simmilarily run chapters.
Example 2: He'Stann. Twin-linked flamers and meltas. For salamanders etc.
Example 3: Pedro. Makes sternguard count as scoring. Integrates crimson fists.

Should this be done for Blood Angels, Spehz Puppehz, Templars and Dark Angels?
BA: If you're commander has a jump pack you have the option of Assualt marines as troops.
DA: If your commander has Termie armour, termies count as scoring?
Templars: If your commander is a cahplain you get vows/oaths? Mabye?
SW: *shrug*

Do you agree?
Any suggestions?

Of course they should. But it would earn less and they would have to release a ton of minis all at once. They would never do it .

Well...are you going to contribute ideas as to how it could be integrated?

I dont think so, imagine how big the Codex would be!

Space puppies would loose there blood claws and long fangs, or any marine player could use them.

They should make a codex filled with DA, Space puppies and BA.

Make it so you have to have Belil as a HQ to take termies as troops.

Don't you have to do that anyway for Belial?

But I see what you're suggesting. A spin-off marine codex for spin-off marine chapters! lol, not a bad idea. Still the reasoning hold true.

You do have to do that with Belial but if they DID do a spin off marine codex then you would have to make rules like that.

Example 2: Can only take Assault marines as troops if you take Dante as a HQ.

But that is too restrictive isn't it?
What do you think of the idea of "if your commander has jump packs you're Assualt Marinz count as troops idea"?
It's almost exactly like the how giving your commander a bike makes bikes troop choices in the vanilla dex.

Yes along those lines, but the problem is what if someone took Termie Captain and Assault Captain, meaning they like combinding the ablitys of two chapters and could make a horrible powerlist.

True. But what if you had to designate one of them as your "Main HQ", such as the one who costed the most. Then they could only use the boons granted from THAT commander. (And there would not be all that much stopping you from getting Dante AND belial if they're in the same dex)

P.S. Personally, I think the option to have termies as troops is skid-mark on the underpants of armylists.

I agree with them making a lump codex with all the weird groups of one army, but I also think they should do that for every race. Make one for some of the Tau military worlds, one for a few of the dominant Eldar craftworlds, Ork tribes.... You get the picture.

The eldar are pretty versatile as it is. (Hence being able to have a kewl Saim-Hann army), but mabye make Wraithguard troops for Iyanden?
But for the Tau they would only need a feew special rules.
Ork tribes have plenty of versatality. (Speed Freekz and Red Wunz go Fasta and such)

ah, I haven't looked at many of the new codecies yet. IMHO, I do feel the Eldar's versatility could be expanded on through mucking around with aspect warriors on the FOC and such, Tau having something relatively interesting (maybe make a spinoff commander farsight army, who knows) but there needs to be alot more races that get their own codex, and I think it would be nice if all the spinoff codecies would be lumped together.

However, my real opinion would have been to never have those armies in the first place. They're bad enough at updating rules, and they didn't need more. I know the game would lose flavor, but maybe they would hae spent more time working on the other codecies? wishful thinking, i know.
