Title says it all. What army do you plan on taking to the 'Ard Boyz Semi-finals and why?

Personally, I'm on the bandwagon with Mech Guard.

Too be honest i got to the Semis with Daemonhunters. Although that was a small venue.. about 20 total people. This weekends match is going to have at least 50 people in attendance so i honestly dont think that the person who wins it or places in the top 3 will do anything less than 2 massacres. Too be quite honest my Daemonhunters list isnt built to massacre armies. It can win, yes but not massacre. That is goin to be the difference in these coming games. Bring your army that can accomplish most if not all of the objectives and smear the opponents army.

Im most likely going to have to incorporate shrike in some way with a C:SM army. We will see. Im going to bring both and decide if i would be better off representing DH.

@windswept:

At least 50 people in attendance?!?!

I don't get how that can happen in the semis in this tournament. Only 3 people can move on per prelim. You are telling me that 16+ prelims are feeding into your one semifinal?

After looking at my area, I'm having a hard time seeing how more than 6 people will feed into my semi. There were two prelims in our area and there are two semis in our area... weird.

Yeah but some people if they want to play will be driving from another state. Our playing field should be somewhere around 18-21 here in SoCal. Unless we get some out of staters but that shouldn't happen since Arizona and Nevada both have semi's. In fact those would probably have a far smaller playing field than our area but driving for 8 hours to win a 2500pt army isn't worth it to me

I agree i was a bit thorwn off as well by the number when i asked. Its the Media location Near Philly. Im assuming because its a larger venue maybe they are suporting people from NJ, NY, Delaware, maybe even Maryland.

you are right though very weird... well im gonna bring both armies just in case. Ill decide when i am ready to register.

Over 300 miles to the nearest semi location, I don't think any of our local winners are travelling. Nine stores in VA held prelims, but zero semi locations in the state.

I'm 95% sure I'll bring my Salamanders, however, there is a part of me that thinks Tau could be very good given the missions. All 18 spots for the semi finals in WA are taken. I just hope I don't run into jet bike Eldar in the 2nd mission.

I will be driving for charleston WV to basically Lexington kentucky, so yeah there's a chance of him having 50 people, but honestly I dont see it happening. Though at that point you could be proud of a top 3.
BTW hey Obifett, after our debate the outer day I'm probably going so say to hell with it and play Tau in the semis, I dont feel cool hoping on the chaos cheese train even if there is a 2500 pt army involved. I may even play the same list I did in the first round!

Yes, we volunteered................ We've had semi-finals locally for every Ard Boyz until this one. I guess we're spoiled.

Looks like CSM in our area will be the majority. I know of a guy taking Orks, 2 guys taking CSM. I dunno what I'm taking, probably Daemons. Vulcan Marines look like they might make an appearance as well.

Our local location has 16 entrants at this point, Phoenix games in Atlanta. There's also one 2 hours up the road at Dicehead, which I think has the Blade N Bolter Boyz rolling up. Should be good times.

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

They've got a location up on Vancover Island in Canada doing a 2nd round as well as one in Boise Idaho so all together that should handle the Pac Northwest. I actually play each week at Ernie's Games, and Ernie is a pretty fun guy. If anyone is comming up to Woodinville, there is a GREAT breakfast place in Maltby about 10 minutes away called the Maltby Cafe, they have the biggest Cinnamon Rolls I've ever seen! If anyone comming up wants to split a roll then send me a PM and we can meet up that morning.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

The 2 guys who won in Maryland are TFG's. They will twist the rules to their interpetation, not what the correct one is. One is taking Mech Guard with a Deathstrike, Alrahem and Creed and bunch of Banewolves and Demolishers. I heard his opponent in the 3rd round tell him to stop being a douchebag.

The other guy took rhino wall space marines. He had a fit about another player's army...something to do with he shouldn't be able to play it the way he did because it was a 3rd edition codex.

Dunno....if you are going to Showcase Comics, have fun!

.Only a fool believes there is such a thing as price gouging. Things have value determined by the creator or merchant. If you don't agree with that value, you are free not to purchase.
