Lightning Claw Terminators can't have storm shields.

In the Space Marines codex I'd vote for TH/SS, but in the Blood Angels 'dex I'll have to say Lightning Claws.

Lightning Claws can't have storm shields??
I didn't know that well you learn something new everyday.
Well then lets say it has dual lightning Claws.

If they put out a Codex that allows Chaos Terminators to have them, then I'd like them. Until then, I'll stick to Chainfists.

Thunder hammer because you can have a 2+/3+inv.

It all depends on what you are doing. Ideally you want to have both.
Example:
LRC loaded with 8 terminators, if you are assaulting anything half way decent in close combat you want the LC to rip apart as many as possible, and then you want the TH to clean up the mess. Personally I roll 5 TH/SS in a LRR, but I do play Salamanders.

In isolation, it depends on what you're going after. Guard squads would prefer LC, Nob bikers, plague marines, or vehicles need a hammer.

If you have the option for the marine Storm Shield, it's a no brainer.

I'm thinking of having 2 terminator squad. One TH/SS the other dual LC!
I wonder if that's good enough?

Normally I prefer to have about 1/3 LC and 2/3 TH/SS termies in my assault squads. In a squad of 8 it would be about three with lightning claws and five with Thunder hammers and storm shields.

Have to go with lightning claws. Just because they look cooler than thunder hammers. And everyone knows it's not about if you win or lose, all that matters is that you look cool while doing it.

I missed that you were using the BA dex and voted both as I think they are now pretty well balanced against each other (whereas before LC were almost always the better choice).

I also tend to go for the split like Axyl describes.

I prefer a mixed squad as well, and if my Grey Knights could use Lightning Claws, I would.

But they can't and it makes me sad.

So I prefer both, but only use TH/SS.

10 Assault Termies with TH/SS is the way to go.

With the BA codex then you want a mix with slightly more LC than TH/SS.

Normal marine codex - the 3+ invulnerable against shooting and combat makes the TH/SS very strong.

It depends who you are fighting, if you fighting horde army then you want lightning claws so you can kill them before they kill you with sheer amount of attacks, but otherwise i would go for TH/SS

I'm thinking of having 2 termie assault squad and magnetize the TH and LC.
How does that sound?

I have a 10 man assault termi squad that is half and half. A while ago I took an almost all terminator 1500pt list to my store to try it out. Game was against dark eldar, so the LC's initiative advantage wasnt there, but overall it was a great combo. Putting all his darklance wounds on the TH models and doing the killing with the LCs. He was fuming and took 3 turns with his entire force to remove that one unit.

The mix is good. Definitely mix.

I also throw in for the Mix.. I run a LRC with 3 LC termis, 4 TH/SS termies and a Chappie in Termie Armour. Gotta love those Litanies!

I do have a spare LC terminator or 2 which I will bring along in case of KNOWN hordes opponents.

2+2=5 for sufficiently large values of 2.

With BA its kind of a mixed bag. If your useing the High Priest with them I would say LC all the way around. Kinda hard to say no to 20+ str 5 power weapon attacks you get to re-roll on. I would say 3 or 4 with lighting claws and 1 or 2 with the thunderhammers for clean-up work. The BA storm shields are still sucktastic so they need a ride. if you don't take the high priest its really just 6 of one half dozen of the other since int4 dosen't always mean hitting first int 5 does ( normally)

The LRC is a must if you take them since the BA LR don't have the extended cab. Not that thats much of an issue since its a very nice anti troop weapons load and one of the few tanks in the game with enough defensive weapons to matter.

TH/SS are better vs EVERYTHING except giant hordes of guardsmen or orks. I like a 4:1 ratio of TH/SS:LCs,

I think it depends largely on what army you're playing them from.

I've had pretty great success with 4 LC 1 TH in a Land Raider with my Templar successors. They have furious charge and preferred enemy and since I'm hiding them in the LR, they are usually in a very good position to get the charge.

So it's like, 16 S5 I5 reroll hit n'miss with 3 Thunderhammer strikes at S9 to clean up what's left over. Seriously, it's insane.

With Blood Angels, I'd definitely advocate a mixture of LC and TH/SS, leaning more towards LC's. Especially if you're combining with someone that gives Furious Charge.

Apparently most people in this thread haven't realized that these are Blood Angels.

The Emperor doesn't seem to do much for you but you sure are expected to be mutilated, suffer, and die to make him happy. And is he dead or what? If he's entombed that would mean he's dead as a doornail, right? So, how can he be happy about anything you do, or even give orders to anyone? Are you worshipping the dead now? Is that something you'd really want to do? Because it sounds freaking creepy to me.

Yep, it only works in close combat on a 4+. For Blood Angels I'd probably go 1/3 Hammer and 2/3 Claws.

For codex marines I'd probably do the reverse.
