Hi all,

I'm in the process of working out exactly what I'm going to be doing with all the Bastions I bought, and I know right that I will need to get some additional Bastion floor sprues, and some Cities of Death floor sprues while I'm at it.

So I priced out what I'd want to get at the UK site - when converted it's $140 for 4 Bastion Floor Sprues and 5 CoD Floor Sprues. Ok, fair enough. Exchange rate is pretty good with the US at the moment, so we'll check that - $143 for the same. Not bad.

Out of interest, I checked the Australian site for the same items.

AUD$242

What? The? Feth?

That's 70% more, for the same items (before shipping mind you) than from the US or the UK.

So, as a warning to all Australians who have gotten caught up in the whole CoD thing and want more floor sprues - DO NOT BUY THEM FROM GWOZ.

Good man! We should all be buying from cheap online stores anyway. Unless you have a nice FLGS that you want to support, like mine.

But yeah, prices here are crazy. How the heck does GW justify that?

Its not just australlia, us poor kiwis have it rough too. $180 for a battleforce retail or around 120 from the British GW site
All you can do really is take advantage of the current exchange rate and get it super cheap online.

Or go to Maelstrom, where they're discounted UK prices (so 10% off for them, but it's the same as 30% off for us) and no shipping costs.

Well, they do have great customer service. I'll defend GWUS until the cows come home - they're a great bunch of guys - but yeah, other than that, what Cheese said.

That's odd, I thought HBMC was a long-time player. Clearly, he has only been in the hobby a week if he had not already realised this... Either that or Maelstrom slipped him something to bring them up again.

If I had not bought close to my entire Sister's force from overseas, it would probably still be at 1500 points... or I would have starved to death. My money is on the latter.

I don't buy stuff from GW oz at all - my paints I get from other stores at a discount (switched over to Vallejo and Derivan minis).

Not a huge revelation, though.

It's ALWAYS been cheaper to buy it from OS.
I picked up a Falcon+squad of Dire Avengers for my eldar for $50 delivered (just like the squad+tranport boxes available now - but a year and a half BEFORE they decided to sell them that way here.).

I've always known Oz is more expensive, but never 70% more expensive. I felt that warranted the warning.

All GW stuff in aus is pretty much priced at our dollar buying 33p (which it was some time ago). Right now its buying 50p, so things should be about 50% more expensive in Australia than they would be if bought from the UK. Just gotta be smart with your money.

I don't pretend to be an expert on exchange rates, but http://www.xe.com/ucc/convert.cgi?Amount=1&From=AUD&To=USD&x=41&y=4 has the exchange rate at 1aud:.82usd . That isnt that bad is it?(I know the original problem wasnt an exchange rate problem, but a GW being greedy problem) Also, why has no one mentioned ebay yet? Or is the shipping from the average ebay seller just a killer ? I get my csms for $0.50/marine instead of $3.5/marine GW wants us to pay, that has to make up for the exchange rate + shipping.

Regardless, hope you find a way to keep GW from making MSRP, they really havent earned it in a while now.

Ebay is not as "cheap" as everyone assumes.

Sure they may start out as $1 , but after everyone bids to their max threshold , it still goes back to around 30% off at most. and you have shipping to pay.
And not to mention , its almost impossible to win everything at a decent price , suddenly you dont get combined shipping since you only won 1 item.
The you still get charged $10 shipping for a box of gaunts.

The only items that gets sold for low , is very badly painted items.
