I was wondering what you all think about the idea of Kasrkins having Jump Packs. Since it would fit their description of fast-moving infantry, could work into their deep strike rule a little bit, and help them move around to give support to different parts of your army. Also it just seems like it would be incredibly awesome!

They already have grav-chutes, which they use to drop from Valkyries.

IIRC, Imperial jump-jets are too bulky and complex to be mounted on anything but power armour.

Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

The Jump-packs used by the Marines are too bulky to use on Kasrkins, but they are much bigger and heavier. It doesn't seem like it would be too difficult for the Imperium to just build a smaller version.

Remember that the Imperium doesn't know how a lot of its technology works. It's why their plasma weapons are so unstable.

They don't know how to make a lot of their tech. But most of the tech they don't really know much about was made before Marines were really around or by other human groups that didn't have marines anyway. So i think jump packs are something they know how to build. If i were to give kasrkins jump packs, i would have to say that they would be an upgrade you give them.

IG troops don't usually use jump packs. In ye olde rogue trader there were humans with jump packs, but nowadays there are not. I think kasrkin are better off without the jump packs as is.

Havn't seen how they worked with them on so I can't really tell how well it would work and all. But I feel like they can't do much beyond Deep striking, hitting their target, then getting killed or doing some minor damage on nearby units for a turn or 2. I would think that jump packs could make them be able to be used as a response unit to wherever i am getting hit the worst. To make it work somewhat, I think they could lower the point cost for each Kasrkin and then make their special operations rule work differently. More like the Veteran Squad doctrines, with one giving them jump packs being one of the special operations to choose from. Points-wise, when you compare them to seraphim or assault marines, the jump packs would roughly equal out the cost. Since the seraphim and marines have higher stats, saves, more bonus rules, and more gear. It wouldn't be an exact match or anything and I don't know if it would be balanced, but i think it seems reasonable.

Arguably it's a hole in the IG lineup. They used to have them, and every other army has some sort of jump infantry (except necrons, but they have three jetbike units; and DH can take assault marines). I think they got taken out in 2nd to cement IG as the stand and shoot army, and there just hasn't been a real burning reason to re-introduce them.

I like the idea, and I wish they'd add them, but like most IG stuff, t3 and 5+ save is simply too fragile for any unit that's that expensive. Look at swooping hawks or the DE jump infantry for proof. Even stormboys are rarely used, and they hit like a ton of bricks.

Model Assault Marines with Cadian Heads. Counts as Seraphim (you can include Seraphim allies in a Guard army). Actually those might look pretty cool with the Valk pilot heads.

If you paid full Valk points for the upgrade, nobody should complain.
