Is this set worth the investment or should I buy the parts individually?

If your asking if you'll save any money buying the set, I believe there was a previous thread that did the math and found the pricing to be the same for the set as for all the models individually. In addition, if you went through Maelstrom or the War Store or something with a flat percentage off GW prices, you'd be saving money if you bought the whole set in chunks.

Overall I'd say buy models as you go

Thanks guys, I'm on the fence about it because it's a big investment and I doubt I'd use a lot of it, i.e. drop pods.

As stated before, there's no savings on buying the set compared to buying the models individually. If you think you will not use even a single model of the set, I highly recommend just buying individual models.

Don't buy it if you're going to gut it. Buy it if you want to use the smurfs second company.

Don't buy it all it once, you'd get discouraged trying to paint it all. Just buy small parts of it, that you know you'll use.

There's no difference. The Spear of Sicarius' price tag is just the same price as buying everything separately.

There's no point.

Actually spear of sicarius is about 20% MORE expensive because online retailers will give you that much off :p Unless of course they can get you direct only items at 20% off

Buy it, then ebay the parts you don't want. You may come out ahead.

Or just buy the parts you do want, perhaps at an online discounter, perhaps even one that will do free shipping worldwide, rather than wasting time paying full retail to GW on something you're not even 100% sure that you want.

If you wanted every single model in the set then it's okay.

Otherwise, waste of money.

I can get them at whole sale through a friend of mine so I'm highly considering it. As for the models I know players that want the drop pods so I could sell them and make some money back.
Also the Dreads look different in it, are they jsut special edition or somthing?

But why? As has been stated, there's nothing in this 'deal' that is unique or priced any differently from buying it all individually. If you don't need 8 Drop Pods (or however many it is), then don't buy them. You lose nothing by not getting them.

There is a huge difference between buying the Spear vs buying it separately .
I know the price are the same but...

If you get bored of them , you can still return / trade the rest if you buy them separately.
Buy the Spear set = you are stuck with it.

The spear set always makes me giggle. You have to be a really be ultramarine fan. You also have to be a very prolific painter (or have a nice chunk of change for a service) if you are buying that many models all at once.
