Ok so about a month ago a friend of mine stated that he would like to start a Necromunda campaign. I haven't played Necromunda in about 4 years, but it has always been one of my favorite games. We started getting our gangs together and recruiting other players. We currently have 4 players and have at least 2 other guys working on their gangs. Myself and friend Alec have multiple gangs so we are taking turns playing the different gangs so that one gang is not overly powerful but still advancing.
This journal is going to cover my Orlock gang, Brax's Bragarts. I used a box of Catachan Jungle fighters as the starting point and converted a Heavy from the old Schaeffer's Last Chancers Bragg model. I'm actually pretty impressed with the conversion. Hopefully next week I will post pics. I would like to start with the background I wrote a couple of weeks ago and then touch on the highlights after each game. I've played two games with them so far and have been pretty lucky. Comments and advice is always appreciated:
Brax’s Braggarts
Brax – The Leader of the gang. Brax grew up in the Underhive and spent his pre-teen years working for an older Orlock ganger named Jak (polishing his guns, running errands, etc…). Jak was seriously wounded in a fight and died shortly afterwards. The last thing he did before he died was to give Brax his trusty chainsword. Jak told Brax that someday he would lead his own gang. Now the Leader of his own band of misfits, Brax is ready to make his mentor proud.
Weapons: Chainsword (Jak’s Pride) and Laspistol.
Rat – Heavy weapon ganger and Brax’s #2 men. If anybody knows something about Rat it’s two things. Don’t make him angry and don’t touch his gun. Rat is massive for an Orlock, other gangers whisper that his dad was a Goliath boss, but such whispers are few and far between. Rat favors a custom made Heavy Stubber (Betsy). He handcrafted it out of parts from a dozen different guns. Though he has a large, rough exterior Rat is fairly quiet and one of the few gangers who knows how to read. He has been friends with Brax since they were children and a trustworthy friend.
Weapons: Heavy Stubber (Betsy) and Autopistol
Scabbs – Specialist weapon ganger. Scabbs is a self-admitted pyromaniac. Usually not an issue as long as he can keep his Flamer pointed at a rival gang member. Scabbs met Brax at a local bar, well more specifically at a local bar fight. Scabbs was drunk and mistook Brax for someone who owed him money. Naturally a fight breaks out and afterwards they are formally introduced after sobering up in the local Arbitas jail. Brax liked how Scabbs handled himself and wondered how well he could fight when sober. Scabbs happily joined the gang and (when sober) has been a useful gang member.
Weapons: Flamer and Laspistol
Sirius – Ganger. Sirius was a miner by trade, but due to sabotage (by a rival House) the mining company who employed him has recently gone out of business. Sirius has a family at home to feed and after meeting Brax through his #2 man Rat he decided that any work is better than none.
Weapons: Shotgun (Slug, Manstopper shells)
Timmah – Ganger. An old acquaintance of Brax and former Juve under Jak. Timmah is fine shot with a shotgun and known for his quick wit.
Weapons: Shotgun (Slug, Manstopper shells)
Tyree – Ganger. Tyree used to work at a bar that Brax and the others would visit, but lost his job when a rival gang burned down the bar. He acts as Brax’s contact man with local businesses and industry. The time spent breaking up fights and keeping a relatively normal amount of control in an Underhive bar has made him a valuable gang member as well as
de-facto treasurer.
Weapons: Lasgun
Yarrow – Ganger. Yarrow was another local at Tyree’s bar. A long time friend turned fellow Gang member.
Weapons: Lasgun
Zed – Ganger. If one word could describe Zed it would be unstable. Captured at an early age and forced into labor has led Zed to be a hard as nails individual. He escaped the labor gang in his late teen years and has since wondered the streets of the Underhive. He met Brax through Tyree (before his bar was burned down).
Weapons: Laspistol and Flail
Kimmy – Ganger. An old time friend of Scabbs. After the most recent gang fight Kimmy’s house was used as an temporary hospital for his friend who was recently injured. A fine enough shot with a Lasgun, Kimmy is a loyal and trustworthy person and perfect for Brax’s budding gang.
Weapons: Lasgun, Autopistol
Territories:
Chem Pit, Old Ruins, Holestead, Waterstill, and Workshop
Ok 2 game wrap up. First game was a Scavenger's scenario (minus the monster) against my friends Goliaths. Game was pretty brutal. Rat (the Heavy) took at least two guys out of the game and my other shooting was fantastic. I passed all of my Ammo tests and forced a Bottle Neck around turn 4 or 5.
After the first game I sent Zed to collect at the Chem Pit. He rolls a six and now (because of his burns) causes Fear. I thought that was great because according to his fluff he's a little crazy to start. My Leader Brax increased his
WS and my other advances were ok.
Game 2: Rematch against the Goliaths, Gang fight is the Scenario. I huddled up Zed, Brax, Timmah, and Scabbs and send them running to a center multi-level tower. Rat and Wretch hung back and tried to pick off whoever came across them. Yarrow was on Sniper duty.
Turn 2 Rat's Heavy Stubber (Betsy) Jams, Scabbs is burnt to a crisp by a flamer and is Out of the Game. Next turn Brax charges into
hth along with Zed, but Zed gets knocked down by somebody on Overwatch. Brax proceeds to knock 3 guys out of the game (one of which dies afterwards). I force a surprisingly early Bottle neck and win the second game of the night. Brax is starting to make a name for himself.
Post-Game: Brax gets 2 advances, rolls another
WS increase (now at 6!!!) and gains one
Str (now at 4). Sirius gains Fast Shot (has only 1A), Yarrow gains Crack Shot, and Scabbs injuries lead him to gain an Old Battle Wound. I recruit Kimmy, buy some armor for Brax, and prepare for the next game. Brax is getting to be pretty beefy. He has WS6, Str4, a chainsword, and Flak armor. I would like to see his Wounds or Toughness increased, but that's all on the dice at this point. My next purchase for him will probably be a Sword so that I can Double-Parry and all of my attacks will be at Strength 4.
Next Game: Should be Saturday the 29th against my friend Keith and his Van Saars. This will be his first campaign game, but there is more than 250pts between our gang ratings so his gangers are going to be advancing like crazy.
