There has been quite a bit of controversy in the past regarding Skaven so I thought I'd see what people think of them in general.

I'll be picking up the new Skaven 'dex.

Unless my Green warty heart draws me away from them, which is quite a possibility.

They're a fine army.

I like the idea of a paranoid, underground, back-stabby race - I just wish they weren't giant rats. Blech.

I don't play them, but I like the fact that they are there. They are not very popular at the moment, so I'm interested to see how GW reckons they're going to solve that problem. I think that all the other races are just "cooler" or more fun to play than Skaven.

Skaven armies with 2 Warp Lightning cannons and a hundred or so jezzail teams are a little cheesy though.

What army is more fun to play than Skaven? They're even more fun when they win, but that's not so common...

Warp-Lightning Cannons are terrible. I always take them.

In my last four games I've gotten two successful shots out - every other game they've blown up or been chased off the table.

Most serious players have worked out that you only need to declare a charge against a 'Cannon and it automatically falls back due to its special rules. You can be on the other side of the table, just so long as you can legally declare a charge.

I like them,they seem a fun army to play.I haven't bought any of the minis or the dex though.Yet I like their overall fluff and look.

I love Skaven , especially their play style .
They are more "fun" then O&G but just not as silly and cute.

Fun as in you can abuse them all you want , and less random then Goblins.

Skaven are on my short list for my second WHFB army (or third depending on what happens with my current Chaos Dwarf project). I love the lore. I love the models. I love them as a Fritz Leiber fan. I love rats. I love "Life is Cheap". I love Clan Pestilens. I think they are an integral part of the Warhammer world and gaming experience.

I want Space Skaven! lol
To be specific, I want Hrud not rats. They're only equivilant to Skaven in the way that Necrons are equivilant to Tomb Kings but I think they'd be cool. I don't play Fantasy Battle, but I like the style and look of Skaven

They've got their place in the WHFB universe. Even though i grew up with dozens of rats as pets, don't think i'd pick up the army.

I have always really liked the Skaven. I have collected some of the figs but never quite enough to flesh out an army . This may change with the new army book coming though.

I enjoy playing against Skaven. Their unpredictableness makes for a great game. I am not a great painter of fur and do not want to paint that many models.

I voted "like," but it was a close call. I absolutely love them, but do not plan to involve myself in WHFB in the near (or foreseeable far) future. If they were to arrive in 40k, they would be my first army (though I doubt that they would do anything but postpone my plans for my Imperials.)

Of course I love them!!! They're deadly (sometimes), numerous (most often), and funny (always!!!)!

Plus their relationship to the Chaos Gods is quite peculiar, IMHO...

I love their background and often self-destructively unexpected playing style. I have destroyed opponents with them, and destroyed myself too, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Love 'em!

On topic, I think Skaven are just hilarious and have pretty nice stories to go with them. The new clanrat models look fantastic, what's not to like?

The only reasons I'm not playing them are I've already invested in my startup Dark Elves army and my gaming buddy is starting them once the new book hits.

I have 20. won them in a best painted contest by turning up. Other then that, keep 'em. They are an integral part of the Lizardmen fluff.

In some of the art work (thinking that particular strip from Tales from the 10 Tailed Cat graphic novel) and some stories they're awesome and it makes me want to play them but then I look at the models and cry.

I am planning on making a Clan Eshin sect for Mordhiem but that is based primarily around the more repectable metal minis from that line. I am trying to avoid alot of the more questionable kits...

I love em. Probably would never play them, but the games I've had against them are fantastic. Granted I've never played against a really good Skaven player, but for now I'm happy with the experiece.

Are there any books or other resources out there for Skaven fluff? I tried the lexicanum, but the whfb section of the site is seriously lacking.
