I just read up on Soloman Lok, since he looks like a pretty sweet character, nice model, etc. etc. from Forge World. He's dead though, so I don't understand how we can play with him. Isn't that kind of like... playing as Horus? Anyone care to help me understand this?

That was old fluff. New Marine Codex states that he was captured and held prisoner in the Eye of Terror only to escape and return to the Imperial Fists after all this time of them believing him dead.
So Lysander is once again alive.
