Devastating Dark Reaper

we've talked about them, complained about them, got excited about them only to be shot down very quickly, but no one has actually said what they want the next dark eldar codex to be like. I figured I would start here and give some of my ideas.

1. fluff wise they need more i'm thinking they could draw some inspiration from the Wraith in stargate (one of the few sci-fi universes GW hasn't plundered). The wraith do raids to capture people. The Dark Eldar do raids to capture people. The wraith eat said people's life force. The dark eldar eat(or sacrifice thats never made clear) said peoples souls. The wraith torture promising individuals until they serve them. The dark eldar do it for fun. However they need to remain distinctly eldar as well as retaining their dark elf roots. Ideally they sould be 2 parts eldar , 1 part wraith , 3 parts dark elf.

2. Rules wise they rely heavily on leadership tests and reducing leadership. the problem is that fearless is incredibly prevalent in the game currently. They could get around this by ignoring any rules that affect leadership tests (that means fearless, synaps, Marneus Calgar) they also need to be able to make vehicles cry.

3. New models (though does it really need to be said).

I'm both selfish and rational. I'm scheming, secretive and manipulative; I use knowledge as a tool for personal gain, and in turn obtaining more knowledge. At best, I am mysterious and stealthy; at worst, I am distrustful and opportunistic.

This, so much this. I thought for a while about which army to actually start, I liked orks, but I loved the artwork for the Dark Eldar, I went "I need to find that model" from the warrior pics in the BGB.....and then I found that a model like the artwork does not exist :( And all of the models were there I totally hated.

Also, they need something that can live as it goes downfield.

As far as fluff goes though....not sure what you can do, and the current trend has been to make things like units more blended and smoothed out, and to have their role in the game, not to make them more interesting. (And really, they are space pirates....what can you add to that?)

Edit: Wait, do the DE have any Appoc super heavy vehicles?

What do I need for Dark Eldar?

A warrior model that I can place on the table without cringing.

Otherwise, it's all good. Dark Eldar are currently a competitive army. The second they get hit with a new codex, you can say goodbye to my jetbike riding strength 7, toughness 4, initiative 7 Lord with a power weapon, and 5 attacks, that rerolls misses in combat and g has a 2+ invulnerable save.

Need some good model design? Who is the designer of the dark elves range?
If he/she was to design the models im sure they would be good, judging by the looks of some of the DE stuff.
The black arc corsair models are perfect for dark eldar

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor.

If the models were of a decent standard, I'd be interested....however, I've yet to see a "decent" enough standard from GW full stop.....so I'm not holding my breath!

Man down, Man down....
