Busy somewhere, airin' out the skin jobs.

I know its a dark and gothic future...but certainly there MUST be somewhere that Inquisitors go to "get away from it all" and have a nice vacation on some bright an cheerful beach sipping on pina colada's and checking out the babes!

I got this idea reading the IG codex.

Valhallens, the proud heirs of a planet that gets hit by a comet shifting the planets orbit, essentially turning it into a giant Ice Cube. In order to survive they actually have to tunnel toward the planet core. WHAT A WORTHLESS PLANET!...then to make matters worse THE ORKS INVADE!!! Ummm, why? Guess they needed some Ice for their beer. There are star-ships guys...why stay, its not like there is some massive planetary export on a planet made of frozen water.

Catachan...nuff said.

Fenris-...equals: Valhalla lite

Cadia...constant war, but at least it's industrialised.

Atilla seems like it might be ok...if barbaric.

The nicest places to live seem like they're completely militarised.

These planets DO NOT promote low stress levels. What a stressful life, kill me now.

there are several pleasure worlds out there, where retired imperial worthies can retire to.

however, they kinda attract the attention of slaaneshi cultists...

the best places to live would probably be agri-worlds, where you live in peace farming, or low tech worlds. Tanith would be a good example... a rather low tech planet, where people lived in relative piece, occasionally raising guard regiments to fight.

Planets like Gudrun seem to be semi-advanced, but not quite at the hive stage, and so seemed to be a fairly nice place to live... Inquisitor Eisenhorn liked it enough to keep his permanent residence there.

I'd imagine that the majority of worlds in the imperium are like those two above. You can't have all of them as forgeworlds/hive worlds/death worlds.

I think there are several nice worlds oot there in the grim darkness of the far future. Although i can't remember any names I think there are a few Paradise worlds within proximity of Krieg.
And anyway, Vostroya is supposed to be nice this time of year.

Sorry, I LOL'ed at this - I dont disagree, but I would have added the rider 'until it was destroyed by chaos and abandoned by the imperium'...

well yeah... but there should be many other worlds out of the countless millions that are untouched by war, and a few of them should be decent places...

The Emperor doesn't seem to do much for you but you sure are expected to be mutilated, suffer, and die to make him happy. And is he dead or what? If he's entombed that would mean he's dead as a doornail, right? So, how can he be happy about anything you do, or even give orders to anyone? Are you worshipping the dead now? Is that something you'd really want to do? Because it sounds freaking creepy to me.

It's a matter of point of view,I'm sure to the Warlords who inhabited it found Barbarus very nice.
And a bunch of Orkz would find any world with "loads 'o oomiez ta krump" a paradise.

No offense, but I found this statement hilarious too

It may have been a good world to live on, but was practically killed off by the Chaos invasion. And the only regiment they raised became the "Tanith First & Only", or more commonly known as "Gaunt's Ghosts". "Ghosts", because they're already dead but just don't know it yet.
Once the last man of the Tanith First & Only dies, all trace of Tanith will die with him.

I don't think that would be my idea of a "nice world". Not by a long shot

If Terra is, so is Mars. But if you're not being killed from a fight, you're being killed by the pollution on those planets.

I bet all the good planets are hidden in that star system people think the Vampire/Zombies are hiding in. It's mentioned in the SM codex as being guarded by a chapter, but I don't remember the chapter name or the system name. But, that could be why they don't want anyone to go in there.

Terra? Terra is a barren planet without water that is totall overrun by pilgrims and has more security and military than Cadia, probably. I really would not want to live there.

The Eldar built this nice maiden worlds, didn't they? The Imperium settled on many of them. As long as the Eldar are too busy fighting 'nids, Chaos and 'crons to claim their planets back, it might be nice to live there. They're supposed to be perfect - temperate climate, no natural predators, no viruses, no harmful bacteria, etc. pp.

Well, of course, things DO get worse when you find yourself cut into pieces by mono-wire and the last thing you see is an Eldar grav-tank dropping out of some old webway portal. (They ask the inhabitants of maiden worlds to get the **** off their lawn before they invade, though...nice guys, these Eldar.)

See that Bright Spot in the sky? The one that's really big and glows? Yeah, the Eldar made THAT.

In the GRIMDARKNESS of the far future, nice planets are not allowed to exist as they would, by definition, not be GRIMDARK.

Nah, I guess there would be always some subordinate trying to sabotage your efforts to stay in power and tries to kick your throne until you fall off. Apart from some Chaos cults trying to seduce you, because you're in a powerful position as a rich guy.

I think the Exodites know how to live. I guess humans could do that, too. Run around on some wild (but habitable) world, living with dragons and so on. It doesn't have necessarily to be as barbaric as those Attilans do it.

The Adeptus Terra has a classification called Paradise Worlds for a reason.

Also Civilized Worlds are about like 19-21st century earth so in all likelihood not any worse then real life.

Yeah, Prandium. Paradise worlds exist to get killed (or have dark secrets) cause it increases the GRIMDARK.

Forever alone

Ultramar is a nice place once you get over the Tyranids, Meridian doesn't look bad, and Tartarus was fine apart from the GRIMDARKSECRET Chaos taint and omnipresent Orks.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.
