What reason do they have for this war? IMO, the orks don't make very good slaves for the Dark Eldar, and the Dark Eldar in turn don't really have anything that the orks want (I suppose a Waaagh could bump up against comroganth or whatever it's called....but why?)
And like most things involving orks, someone would just turn it into a long term fight...unless it was mostly in space, then I think the Dark Eldar would 'win'

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

No the DE are not "dead",unless I miss my guess it was the OPs intent to convey that the DE have been so over looked by GW that for all practicul purposes they might as well not exist...but then again I may be reading WAY too much into it.
