Hey yall. I play Russians, and have a copy of the old Festung Europa. Are there many differances for the Russians in hte Fortress Europe book? Is it worth picking up, or is it just a bit if a re-package?

It's mostly a repackage to the 'Cobra' style briefings. Festung Europa is still tournament legal.

The biggest change is that there are no limits on how many support platoons you can take (no more "for each combat platoon you tak you may take X support platoons).

Some models had stat rules or points cost modifications, Churchill Crocodiles leap to mind.

Do IS2's have the 'breakthrough gun' rule in Festung Europa?

Note: Should get FE and FE2 added to the Dakka glossary.

Thanks, m'fren. I think the IS2's do, but I don't have the book out here with me right now so can't really say.

There are a number of special rules and such in Fortress Europe that are not in Festung Europa for the Russians:
Volley Fire, Hvy Breakthru Gun, Large Katy Btry (1ft template) and the ability to fire the Hvy howitzers in a GOW btry separately.

So if you play those kinds of unit in your army well worth it.
