Hey guys, this idea creeped up on me...

Imagine if there was a small group of Eldar; be it cult, a small fleet or perhaps even a whole craftworld... though probably most likely Exodites, who realise that the Eldar race is doomed and don't quite hold on to the noble idea of servicing the Universe until they are all dust: Imagine if they came up with a plan... a plan that would require them to sacrifice some of their pride, but one that could save the Eldar race (though to be honest; cloning really would ROCK if they'd just learn to use that ;&gt...

They come upon a remote discontented Imperial world, perhaps cut off by a warpstorm (but still reachable via the Webway). Over time, they influence the population, begin to win them over with technologies, arts, and general Eldar culture; show them the ways of the wraithbone, etc.

Eventually the humans become the subjects of the Eldar 'Overclass' and then the breeding starts... Dungeons and Dragons suggests that Human-Elf hybrids develop much faster, often holding the perks of both... If the Eldar used a certain caste dedicated entirely to breeding; and used them EXCLUSIVELY to mate with Human mothers, they are able to minimise the dilution of their genetic code: Though the new Eldar are not as long-lived, or controlled... they have Human ambition, will, drive... etc. Perhaps this small coven could secretly work to increase the power of the Eldar race?

Feel free to refine this further... I wouldn't say this'd be a good army (or would it?) but it'd be an interesting idea to see in a novel... Sort of like a Genestealer Cult, but obviously more open due to the 'courting' process; if Breeding was made efficient and mechanised, within 20 years (not very long by Eldar standards) they could have entire waves to add to their armies... Perhaps they could sterilise the human males; meaning that, over time, the planet's populatino would become Half-Eldar. If the breeding caste is kept safe they can survive almost indefinitely, giving all the humans a strong Eldar heritage and stopping the 'Weaker' genes from taking over (I'd assume that hybrids would have to be sterilised to stop any degeneration of the Eldar DNA...)

But really... cloning would just be so much easier...

I like the idea, write a novel put the eldar having this planet and the Adeptus Terra sends a represenitive to investigate the lack of tithes or somthing, Rep is killed, Space marines investigate, Ordo Xenos and Ordo Malleis shows up and eldar escape with the survivors and story is not really resolved. allowing room for part two.

Space marine says "Traitor, you slept with the Xeno." Woman says "But he's so sexy." Inquisitor says "Die witch." Eldar says "Doooom." Death Watch says "Eat Helfire." Eldar becomes Avatar. Grey Knight says "Begon foul deamon thing" Avatar says "" Grey Knight mind wipes all involved. Other eldar and cortesans escape via webway. Grey Knights and Deathwatch prepare to give chase. continued with part two

For a sequel; Human-Eldar hybrids could infiltrate a society Genestealer style Have an antagonist that always wears a hood to hide his pointy ears...

Are they poulluting the human gene pool or just out for conquest.

I read something in an old white dwarf about an ultramarines librarian who was half eldar. Apparently before he was recruited as a librarian he served as an astropath.

Seriously though, I'm not sure that offspring of eldar and humans would be able to survive.

Yeah thought that to. They are atleast from the same planet, in diference compared to Eldar and Humans. Bipedal Humanoids... yes, propoble comparable dna.. propobly not. It would be much easier for some Eldar to avoid everything and stay hidden to survive. Just look at Dark Eldar, they got a big city-craftworld deep in the webway which no one can find, and that is how they survive.

I'd have to go with the Slaneesh side on this ._. I mean if you created an Eldar/Human hybrid and they began to populate like bunnies, assuming they weren't wiped, wouldn't that lead to another Slaneesh like situation? And the Eldar with the Farseers seeing into the future....would allow this to happen?

Why don't you breed the half eldar back into the eldar population until you start breeding almost pure eldar again?

Unless the goal is to have lost of half eldar running around.

And if you chop of the mens nads, where will the next generations of human mothers to produce more half eldar come from?

And why would the populance trust you at all if you start giving them the snip?

I think in the newer fluff eldar can't breed with humans anyway, but I may be wrong...

And as you mentioned, why would they not just use cloning or artificial insemination and incubators to create actual eldar on a massive scale?

That is, if the Eldar didn't kill them first (the idea of breeding with the monkeigh is unthinkable to them).

I agree with you nearly 100%, but I think it could get more fuzzy if you get into Exodites and some of the stranded humans. If they'd been living on the same world for long enough, there might be a population that's a little bit mixed (but I still think someone in the navy would cry Heresy! when they found the planet and shell it into oblivion.)

From what I understand, GW has since changed fluff from 2nd Ed on this matter. Apparently Human/Eldar hybrids are now born horribly mutated and just look FUBAR.

You do know that this means that eldar are a sub speicis of humans or vice versa, right? Because, leagaly, the ability to produce firtile offspring is the defining trait of a species, something that eldar/humans have. This of course ruins any "mon-kigh" comments. Plus, there is the neccesity of there being a common ancestery, or the old ones just made them that way.

We could just make slanneshi eldar.

They would reproduce fast!

According to the current 'official' Fluff, it's a solid, guaranteed occurrance if the two races should mate. The Ultramarine Hybrid also never existed ( Good old Imperial - I mean... GW - Propaganda )

Commissar is displeased by that comment. The dark eldar are the eldar who were luckey enough to be in the eldar party town in the webway when the EoT was made and slannesh born. They live in constant fear of her/him/it and must continually eat/sacrifice souls to replenish their slowly leeching life energy. The craftworld eldar (who were basicly eldar versions of rouge traders) have survived so far only with the help of 100% pleasure denial and soul stones. The "true kin" prefer to not give up their old lifestyles of complete indulgensce and must constantly take slaves to kill. The torture/rape is just for kicks and not actualy nessisary.

Humans would shun the bybrids as xeno to be purged.

Eldar couldn't breed with mon-keigh and vice versa; the fluff says that the Eldar reproduction process involves the male adding genetic material over time, which also explains why they reproduce so slowly and so little.

Because of the importance of their souls, I think Eldar would find cloning a reprehensible process.

I think that Eldar would not breed with humans. Humans have too much personal desire and ambition. Look at commisars.
