i really hate the fleet list in the PDF's. can i just scratch build a fleet with the classes i want but still using the normal restrictions (such as 3 cruisers per battleship)?

What is it you hate? You do know they made variants for fluffy reasons. And added tweaks in certain lists.

There are 4 or 5 different Imperial fleet lists.
Have you looked at all of them?

yea. im still not finding the combo i want. is it an unwritten rule that you have to use a fleet list?

As much as it is an unwritten rule that you can't mix Codex: Marines with Codex: Imperial Guard.

The newer Imperial Fleets are flexible.
What specific combination of ships are you looking to use?

apocalypse battleship
emperor battleship
gothic cruiser
dominator cruiser
dauntless light cruiser.

Segmentum Solar, Armageddon Sector Fleet List
You can take reserves: (ie. the dauntless, dominator)
Which covers all of the ships you specified.

In regards to the dominator, you may want to take an upgraded Tyrant instead.
I find them Tyrants to be the better vessel.


Out of curiosity why do you wish to use that specific combination of vessels?
I usually find battleships not to be worth it. (with the exception of, "hey this ship is cool factor")

it deserves to be said that im a total noob. iv only ever played 1 game and we used the exact same ship. the emperor is kinda lame but it had S8 launch bays and assault boats. also the apocolypse is a beast.

lol i just won a game. the nid player's 300 pt hiveship moved off the board lol. iv determined that dauntless cruisers suck and well as nova cannons. damn scatter dice...
