I really want to make a army using the new Space Wolves models, mostly because they look awesome and they come with so many parts they actually seem fairly priced. Also I don't want to be confined within predetermined fluff and colors; so my question to the fine people of 40k Background is : Is there more than one offshoot chapter of the space wolves or better yet some suggestions on a chapter name and background.

Thanks for your help,
-JR

The only mentioned off shoot is wolf brothers who are disbanded.

There is of course skyrars dark wolves. but they must of stolen logans ale cause they are renegades in the chaos codex.

So there is nothing official Hence all the Space wolf palyers generally play space wolves as there is no canon option.

Well the only mentioned one of the second founding. The SM codex says that the high lords of terra have lost most records of which chapters come from which legion gene-stock.(Talk about incompetent)

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also their are tons of chapters who are only named with no backround or anything else.

Somewhere in the unknown universe.

make up your own with, say, a black and dark green scheme, and call them the wolverines (got to explain the teeth somehow).

Congratulations, your dismissive and conclusory commentary has provided nothing to this discussion or the wider community on whose behalf you arrogantly presume to speak nor does it engage in any meaningful way the remark it lamely targets. But you did manage to gain experience points toward your next level of internet tough guy.

Oh god I hate the "coming up with a name and kick-ass colour scheme"process.

Yeah, all you need to do is create the background to a
Space Wolves-esque army. You then make up HQ names (ex. my HQ so and so counts as this SW HQ).

You can say that they are part of the Dark (13th) founding. In the SM codex it says that due to a lose of records (probably a new pencil pusher hit delete by accident) no one knows the names of the chapters created or the gene seed that was used. So go nuts!

Doesn't matter what it is or what it is intended to do. If you add a chainsaw to it then it is instantly better!

I did hear mention of the "Lupine sons" chapter, but can't remember where. Definately not Canon though.

Ok I've decided against playing SW mostly because sound full of really cheap moves so instead I'm going Chaos and I will use parts from Space Wolves sets and Chaos sets to make it look like my chaos force has destroyed and looted a space puppy force. Converting is my favorite part anyway so it will be fun.

Mix 'em up ala 13th Company. Then you can play 'em as either Chaos or Space Wolves ;-)
