Well, title is self-explationary.
Also, will you buy any of them furry marines?
I think that they look pretty neat, and I might consider buying a set.

Some of the models look nice, and I'm rather impressed with just how much the new SW accessory sprue expands on the old one. Won't be buying any though - my Eldar are still top priority, and I still haven't forgiven the SW for what they did to Prospero ;-)

Looking for fun articles on painting, tactics and wargaming? Are you after a new regular blog to follow? Are you a bit bored with nothing better to do?

If the answer to any of the above is 'well, I guess' you could probably do worse than read my blog! Regular wargaming posts, painting and discussions

I personally reckon that combining the space wolf and berserker spurs would give you 22 very barbaric looking khorne-berserkers. Possibly get the cheap FW chain axes so that they all have 'em and Part-ay till the bloody sunrise.

When you call an intimate moment with your partner "the Assault Phase"

Is that followed by a pile-in move?

That brings a whole new meaning to the term "Hit and Run"

Can that be following a deep strike, or do you have to wait until the next round?

I like the codex.
SW are very fluffy.
There are some cheap and effective units in there
that eventually allow to play some competitive armies.

I've just bought Najal, a box of WG termies and a normal box set which I have made Gray Hunters from with the remaining stufffrom the spruces I managed to convert a 5 man ultramarines (weren't painted) assault squad and a 5 man devastator squad to skclawls and Long Fangs without it looking like they have been cobled together. I will post these units in the gallery when painted.

In all honesty I have rarely had so much fun assembling models as each one felt like a character.

New sprues are awesome. I'm already a Wolf player, so I'm not gonna start playing Wolves over it.

As for the Codex, regardless of any perceived over/underpoweredness and wtf moments (Wolf cavalry? seriously? what happened to the two Sieges of the Fang for the background section?), upon leafing through it, it made we want to pick up an axe and start taking names in the name of Russ, and it's been a long time since a Codex evoked that kind of response for me.

Also like how Grey Hunters are made of pure awesome - they look to be among (if not the) most fearsome line troops in the game.

I think the are a powerful army that are fluffy and can be exploited to great effect, but I won't play them simply due to better armies about ATM.

Chaos Wolves tempts me though.

The codex fixed a number of the problems that I had with the old 'dex, primarily point cost. I was hoping that the Long Fangs would get Relentless, but that's a bit much I guess. (Yeah, you can give them Relentless with a Logan upgrade, but sheesh...I'd rather have more army for the points that would tie up.)

Aside from the new Codex, I bought the new Njal figure. (Now, I have the Runic Armour and Runic Terminator Armor versions. They need to make him into a Dreadnought for the next codex for the ultimate in Mighty Morphin' Space Wolf action.) I picked up a box of the Wolf Guard Terminators as well. It's about time I made a Krom Dragongaze figure, and one of those heads has an eye patch.

I'm kind of sad about how "overpowered" the codex is being seen. After years of playing an army that friends would say, "Just play them as vanilla marines;" it's frustrating not to get to work out that new army smell with just the long time Space Wolf players. Even worse are the guys whose armies were tearing mine a new one as currently as last week saying that they're going to be using the new codex to make a 'counts as' list.

I'm still excited about the fun toys though. I'm likely to pick up some Thunderwolf riders when they come out. Not sure that I'll ever field them, but that will wait to be seen. Also, Lukas is likely to find a permanent spot in my lists. They didn't have any in stock on Saturday, so I'm hoping they get one in soon.

I like the new SW codex. It goes well with both my SM armies, I had started using the old SW codex for them last year or maybe even the end of the year before. One has a similar fighting style and promotion scheme to the SW and the pre-veterans have a canine theme, so it works with the minis too (I have lots of SW parts and old metal minis from buying up too many SM auctions over the years). The other army is a Deathwatch theme and the Bjorn/WG/LF options fit it better than any other codex and fit it even better than the old SW codex did.

Loving the new Codex, cannot wait to try it out.
Plus, I've folded 2 of my old squads together and have freed up space for another Troops choice, so I think I'll give that Space Wolves box a go. I'd also like to get Njal, maybe Lukas and probably Canis eventually (if only to represent my Wolf Lord on a Thunderwolf mount). But when they release Thunderwolf Calvary, I'm going to drop all other projects and pick those up.

Basically, I'm whoring out for the new units.

The new Pups codex makes for a nice Khornate Legionnaire list.

Before you ask, I stink at making competitive lists so even with "good" armies I'm terrible.

very nice models with an overpowered codex (but not TOTALLY broken codex like 3rd edition wolves and chaos v2 when they came out). the benefits definitely outweigh the disadvantages in the book.

I think the new SW book is one of, if not the best codex GW has released since CSM v3.5. It is filled with fluff, flavor and character, and a lot of it is also accurately represented in the army list and rules for the army. In terms of gameplay it is a very solid codex rules wise, and it avoids really over the top and broken options while still presenting lots of strong ones.

I'm really thrilled with the codex and while I've always had a bit of a thing for the Wolves, the new book as really put me over the top and at some point in the next few months I'll be getting to work on an army for them. I've been wanting to do something SM for a while, but never really settled on a nice, strong and characterful list out of the generic SM book, nor am I particularly into BA/BT/DA.

The only thing I don't like in the new book is THunderwolves, but that is more because I really hate the Canis model than anything related to the fluff/story. I've ben brainstorming on ways to make them seem a bit more attractive model-wise but so far Iv'e got nothing lol.

I'm happy that they are divergent enough to deserve their own codex. I find the cavalry a little silly, but since they have great rules, I'll pick 'em up when the models finally come out!

@Armandloft: I know that our local scene is pretty critical of armies that they consider "too powerful" but I honestly think that SWs are going to be a pretty fun codex both to play and to play against.

Anyways, I think it's just great that GW has started releasing the Chaos Legions series of books. While I'm having a hard time finding the rules for Kharn in the book, I think that they've finally matched the World Eaters fluff with good rules for them.

Why did the berzerker cross the road?

What's up with all the people in this thread confusing Codex:Legions of the World Eaters with Codex: Spehss Puppehs?

I think Codex: Legions of the World Eaters allows for some nice custimization, and I may just make a small force of them to counts-as Spehss Puppehs if I don't particularly like any of the new Tyranids kits.

The eye of terror.

Well... my point was a bit tongue-in-cheek.

I think that the Space Wolves book offers units that are extremely thematically appropriate to the World Eaters, and offers customization of HQs and "champions" that has, until the last codex, long been a hallmark of Chaos.

Every time I think about making an all-foot list with Grey Hunters (world eaters tacticals), Lone Wolves (Berzerker Aspiring Champions) and thunderwolf cavalry (aspiring champions riding juggernauts) it just seems right to me.

Why did the berzerker cross the road?

Space Wolves were my first army way back in the early days when I was trading Magic cards in to get me some models. I'm glad to see them back, and I'm glad to see them competitive, but I'm not too excited about all the people jumping on the counts-as bandwagon about them. Plus, I get a good chuckle at the rules arguments regarding Rune Priests--seriously, guys, English grammatical structure doesn't change just because you're scared. But hey, new Codex, shiny shiny shiny, rules arguments, man, it's way OP, etc.

From a serious gaming perspective, I have trouble seeing as how my beloved Speed Freeks are going to have much of a chance against a good SW force, but that's just something for me to work through.
