You don't hear much about this prestigious chapter these days. What gives?

Because by the time the drugs wore off GW had already put that chapter in print and a recall would have been impossible. So they went with the next best thing- pretend they never had a a chapter called 'Rainbow Warriors'.

Luckily they were able to cut the 'The Caring Marines' and the 'Day Glo Commandos' before it was put into canon.

That's just a theory though.

Lexcanum says they are referenced on p.30 of the new Codex space marines. What's it say about them?

Rainbow Warriors aren't mentioned in the codex.

Page 30 is the galaxy map, and their chapter symbol is different here... instead of a winged lightning bolt with 5 lines/fethers it has only 4... but that is not important... on page 30 it says their home planet, well what Lexicanum says is their home planet, is well... let me quote it... "Prism <<record deleted>>"

Now what is odd is near the bottom of the map, near the crease in the book. there is a symbol just like the one used by the rainbow warriors but the inverse of it... look at it and you will see what i am talking about... but there with the symbol says the following... "Nihilas Death Strike"

Maybe the High lords thought that Space Marines were made to fight and not become the hosts of "Colour Confidential."

Surely someone told GW that it was political correctness gone mad to have a chapter of gays .... Spacemarines are many things but even ultrasmufs aren't gay.

IG, Witch Hunters, Daemon Hunters, Space Marines and their variants, Chaos Marines, and Chaos Daemons all have them. I think Eldar and Tau can get them too.

Orks have burnas, which are similar. Tyranids, Necrons, and Dark Eldar don't really have an equivilent.

Orks are it's, Nids are bugs similar to Ants, Necrons are robots, and we all know what Dark Eldar do behind closed doors

Obviously the name is derived from their special planet, Prism, rather than their sexual orientation. No doubt some mysterious cosmological phenomena results in an atmospheric display of all the colors of a rainbow. Prism, a world full of beauty, wonder, and tolerance.

@Olympia:That may be the case but you have to admit that alot of these "rainbow queer" jokes are pretty gosh darn funny.

The Rainbow Warriors were actually named after the Greenpeace ship, the Rainbow Warrior sunk in 1985 by French Operatives. The GW chapter was a tribute/reference to that, as they were introduced back in the 80s only a couple of years later.

I seem to recall the Ultramarines were originally not first founding, and were a successor from the Rainbow Warriors along with other 'colour' chapters, but I can't remember where I read that so it may not be true. (only the Ultramarines being not first founding is definite there)

One of the pictures often quoted showing a Rainbow Warroir is one being shot by a Sister of Battle, emulting this event (the Sisters of battle symbol the flur-de-lys is French for those who didn'tknow

).

I like some ones re-imagening of the chapter basing them around the Hopi Indians legend.

Rainbow Warriors are also entirely Hawaiian in origin. Warriors would wear the brightly colored feathers of paradise birds as they went into battle.

I think you've seen the same thing as me with the guy trying to bring them back with an Aztec theme in the pic the Marine is armed witha mācuahuitl (Aztec sword) thought the the legend of the Rainbow warriors is from the Hopi Tribe.

I've just tryed to fnd the Aztec Rainbow Warrior but I think an Internet Exterminartus has been performed on it.

And as for the RW/SOB I have only heard about it, I'm still searching for a cheep copie of RT to find this picture it is allegadly towards the end of the book most sources cite.

I have only found this pic below fron RT of one. As well as the more recent one that is being banded around.
