Just wondering?I would love to see how sardukar and bene geserit would be shocked upon seeing a space marine killing dozens of them with his bare hands or seeing Adeptus Mechanicus, their robots and bionics?

Or how about the Space Marines and Imperial Guard being quickly annihilated by the sandworms?

The Fremen beating up Space Marines?

Lasguns blowing up Space Marines?

How about lack of water? I sincerely doubt that the Imperium could deal with that.

No way that dune could beat 40k they just fire cylonic torpedoes on planet's atmosphere and destroy anything on surface.Fremen don't have power armor,reflexes and strength od space marines.Da orks would smash sand hummies.Water Lasguns maybe they are more powerfu but I doubt that someine with them can take on a SM.Sandworms promblem solved aka extreminatus of arrakis.Thinking machines are noting to titans of AdMech.

The cymeks might give the Titains a rub for thier money, and are we talkin after leto or before cause if its after the regular humans might join with the gaurd and the Ixians might go with the ad mech

Ah, but the God-Emperor of Dune (please adress him by his full title) can see the strands of fate. He would see the Imperium coming.

It's not that good a comparison, because both stories have a particular plot device (Warp Travel and the monopoly on Spice) that makes them incompatible.

However, if you're talking a square-on fist fight, then yes, our beloved God-Emperor would squash Leto. lol.

If you're talking early Jihad forces, they'd fare pretty...well, mehhh against the Imperium.

But you're assuming that they'd have all of the bits and bobbles that the League researched and the support of the Ginaz mercenaries--and remember that the Rozak witches were for all intents and purposes, suicide psychic bombers...which would probably be instantly gunned down by the actual troops defending any line the Imperium has, imo.

I think the witches would be able to get past any pycker defense cause thier way of doing thier attacks seems more like the over load on bio-eltrick energy with all the lighting and lack of mutation

Donlt forget that essetally the Dune Empire is far bigger 'Emperor of the known universe' where as in 40K the empire only spans one Galaxy. (This is open to interpritation I know).

Also the Dune form of space transport seems better and safer than warp travel, its just more expencive. Again open to interpritation.

Dune shield tech seems better but on the other hand send in the Imperial guard as the Las guns wolud be more effective. However, if a lasgun beam hit a Holtzman field, it would result in sub-atomic fusion and a nuclear explosion. The center of this blast was determined by random chance; sometimes it would originate within the shield, sometimes within the laser weapon, sometimes both. So it pays to send in the expendable Guard first!

Lastly with the exterminartus issue Dune has planet killing devices Stone burners being one of them. Should the party wish it, the stone burner could explode down to the core of the planet. The resulting sudden release of the planets inner magma would tear the world apart.

All in all it wolud be intresting to see but I think that in an all out war it would be a perlonged fight but in the end 40k wins but in a more insidious war I think Dune may have the edge.

Dune may have obliraterator missiles but they function like a atmospheric incinerator torpedo and Imperium would send billions of guardsmen with creed ,dune can't stand against his tactical genius, Leto 2 killed by Creed and Leto's last words I should have seen it coming.Besides if pitt Necrons vs dune dune will get pwned by necrons.Imperium also has weapon who functions like a stone burner(cylonic torpedo burrows itself in the core of the planet and causes earthquakes and other things that cause planet to explode) and Imperium would use nukes(atomics) against human targets.

Not really, Leto was meant to remain a Duke, the Corrino's weren't really planning on ending their dynasty. If Im not mistaken the Harkonnens were planning on having Feyd Rautha marry Irulan Corrino, hence turning Feyd into the emperor.

I agree it was all a Corrino plot but they did intend on ending the Atradies House, as Leto I was an adoptive cousin to Shaddam IV and he was a serious contender to the Padashar Throne not only due to his rising popularity in the Lansraad but also that with Gurney Halleck, Thufir Hawat and Duncan Idaho they were creating an army that could rival that Sadulka. So Shaddam wantetd the Duke and House Atradies out of the way and the Spacing Guild wanted Paul Out of the way for their reasons. The Harkonin who were one of the few Great Houses that hated the Atradies were a convinent tool, thats why Shaddam 'lent' the Harkonnens a legion of Sadulka Warriors to do the job.

The novels never really started that Leto was close in line to the throne, even so, House Corrino would probably find a husband for Irulan who they could control. Either having her marry Paul Atreides or Feyd Rautha.

The popularity of Duke Leto was a threat to the influence of Shaddam, not the line for the throne. Two separate things though.

Now that we are talking of Dune...how cool would a Dune miniatures game be?

The Nearest thing GW came to doing was the Good old Van Saar Gang from Necromunder. In fact this was the reasionI started a Van Saar Gang.

IIRC there was a Colecteble card game and a bord game of Dune.
