I'd like to collect a relatively small army (numbers and price) to go along with my expanding Space Wolf army, however I'm not entirely sure what/who to collect. I've already tried CSM's but frankly, I didn't like them! Their attitude sucks!

I'm thinking Death-wing myself, as Im currently reading 'Horus Heresy - Fallen Angels' and the Dark Angels sound cooool! Also they could link/ally with my Space Wolves, who Dark Angels have an 'uneasy' history with...

Anyway, I'm looking for any advice or suggestions for whom Dakka suggests I collect as my 2nd, smaller, army.

Thanksabunch! x

Death to the false Emperor.. is better then the furry helmet that comes with the new space wolf box..

Um if you want small numbers bring Njal and logan and a bunch of scoring wolf guard terminators..

Deamonhunters. The models are worth ALOT of points, so you dont need alot of them, they will ally with Wolves (first Armageddon war) and they have alot of cool stuff. The only downside is they have a 3rd edition codex, and the individual models cost more than marines, but not too much more

Oh hush. They've had a model with a wolf helm since the early 90s.

Give the Guard or upcoming 'Nids a try. You can get a relatively small army by getting a bunch of veterans and a tank or two for the Guard, or some stealers and a broodlord for the bugs.

'Uneasy' History

You mean the Lion and his Gay Angels leaving the SW flank vulnerable meaning the death of some SW. Russ and the Lion then have a little fight about it, Russ is ready to laugh it off and be friends and the Lion punched him in the face.

The robes are SWEET for conervisons though!

I say Dark Eldar or Inquistion for a side army.

Aaaaah damn you guys! There I was hoping for everyone 2 say 'Yeah just take Deathwing theyre cooool' but no, you go and have to make me tempted with other options!

@Shadowbrand and Lord Bane - I was tempted by Daemon hunters orignally yeah, however, although they have cool fluff and so forth, theyre £35 for 5 metal termies, whereas DW are £25 for 5 plastic termies, so although definitely an option, i think Death-wing are just ahead on practicality....

@Shaman - I'd ideally like something with a different background and colour scheme to the puppies tbh, but I guess Logan-wing could be a cool compensation as it could be included into my normal wolves army (damnit! now I'm thinking of going Loganwing too! ) oh, and don't you give me any of that Chaos BS, Horus tried and failed and I'm not gonna do the same!

@Brother SRM - Cheers 4 shutting the Chaos guy up! lol! I had a look at IG, and although cool, it turns out theyre about £30 for 10man+chimera whereas other options are cheaper for more points so theyre not too favoured, but I have always liked the Guard... and I had a look at nids aswell, and theyre cool and definately an option, although I may want to wait till the next codex 1st!

@Lord Loss - yes, basically the Lion not having a sense of humour and being a grumpy bastard!

Thanks for advice, everyone, please keep it coming! x

Orks are cheap and there are lots of them, having a budget of a £100 for 1000 points is fine, you may end up with some spare cash.

Congratulations, your dismissive and conclusory commentary has provided nothing to this discussion or the wider community on whose behalf you arrogantly presume to speak nor does it engage in any meaningful way the remark it lamely targets. But you did manage to gain experience points toward your next level of internet tough guy.

Why would you go with Deathwing when you already have a BETTER Deathwing with the Space Puppies?

I recommend Necrons, just because you can.

Man I hate sounding picky - I do want the advice. Honest!

I quite like IG, but in terms of pounds/points I think the Guard aren't worth it, however cool they are!

Necrons are most likely outta the question aswell, my friend has Necrons and personally I find them to be a bit poor and boring IMHO

However Orks do sound COOL! Although I suspect they may work on a similar points/pound level 2 IG, however the Assault on Black Reach could sort that out! The upcoming Ork Megaforce could help with this too...

So far i think my preference stands at:

1) Logan-wing (Logan led termie force)
2) Death Wing
3) Orks
4) Daemon Hunters

Thanks-all, more advice and opinions are very much appreciated! x

I would recommend one of the armies that let's you mix several different sets of figures, like an Inquisition army or a Tau army. That way you can collect and paint relatively small units of very different appearance.

Damn You Killkrazy! (I do mean thankyou really)

Ok, I'm now leaning towards DH, they fit in nicely with the wolves background, and as Killkrazy said, they can have a variety of units and appearances, I'll see if I can find the points/pounds ratio somewhere...

Thanks Killkrazy, for giving me even more of a headache and a very good point!

Now that you're considering Orks, I say go for them. I play Space Wolves and the progression from Wolves to Orks is a very comfortable one. Also, if you get Black Reach, one boyz mob and one box of nobz, you can get a 500 point army pretty easily, since the warboss makes nobz count as troops. It's how I started my army!

awww Mr SRM, such a good point! and the marines could be used in: Space Marine force, Space Wolf force or my brothers CSM (as renegades)...

OK, I liked the look of orks before hand, but now they sound uber-cool! OK, its now between: Orks or Logan Wing, and frankly as I collect space wolves already I reckon it'll be orks...

as I would have 6 Nobs, 20 boys, warboss, 3 deffcoptas and a deff dread (use the dreadnought from AOBR without the MM), how many points would this be? Im thinking maybe add another deff dread and boys/troop choice?

Thanks for all the help guys, everythings appreciated! x

Ok, it's definately going to be an Ork army now, thanks everyone for the advice...

figured I'd get the AOBR box, and could convert the dreadnought into either an ork warboss with mega armour (allowing another load of nobs a troops) or a deff dredd, and MAYBE converting the termies 2 be Orks in mega-armour...

What dya reckon? as before, all advice appreciated! x
