Personal fluff is why I bother. Why would I play out someone elses ideas?
I prefer feeling like part of the canon. I take a lot of pride in what my army has accomplished in the fluff.
I make up a lot of fluff but it comes to little enough as I never turn it into a reality.
Fluff is irrelevant; the paint on my armies is a formality/challenge.

This has come up briefly in some other threads and I'm pretty curious as to what dakka thinks. This isn't a "what is better" thread, since both options are strongly encouraged in the hobby, just looking for thought-out opinions.

Personally, I love the 40k universe enough to play a couple of factions from each of the armies (those that have them) and truly enjoy reading about their exploits in the codici and novels.
