I was wondering if you people have any success with gunline tourny lists or do you all go mech?

I play marines, and my mech can usually be played AS gunline... with 35 point rhinos, I don't have much reason to not take them. but I often deploy as a gunline, with rhinos to block LOS or to ferry my troops around if needed.

What weapons are better for mech then?

Theres no tacticas for them yet...they state them in some but its only something like a paragraph.

For CSM, 2 times special weapons. ALWAYS. Our ubergrit (bolter, bolt pistol, and CCW) makes us eminently suited to short range (12" or less) firefights. Meltas and flamers are my favorites, but limited plasma can work. Just make sure to take roughly twice as much melta. You can drive 6" in a rhino and shoot 2 meltas out the top, for example.

Generally, I'd try to keep the enemy at arm's length and consider cc as the last resort.
Gun line combined with mech is not a contradiction.
