i was looking at the space wolves army list today and have noticed that in the war gear section they are equiped with bolter, bolt pistol and chain sword.
does this mean that they confer a +1 attack bonus in close combat for carrying this even if they also have bolters?

as you have probably guessed im new to this whole thing lol so erm.... HELP

Yep, in combat they count as having a second CCW, so +1 Attack.

Are they equiped with the three weapons? Or is it a choice between bolter and bolt pistol+CCW? If they have all of them, you must choose each turn the weapon you will use. Firing with bolter and fight an assault with the bolt pistol and the CCW in the same turn is cheating!

You don't have to choose each turn. You can't fire the bolter and charge because it's rapid fire, but a meltagunner can fire that and charge using BP and CCW.

They're exactly the same as CSM.

Thanks guys that helps loads, I'm really looking forward to my next game now.
In the last one i only used bolters and never took advantage of the extra attacks in close combat.
Obviously I would choose to use bolt pistol and chainsword in the turn I wish to assault.
The next fight is going to be a howl lol

I read it on a White Dwarf FAQ. An ancient FAQ of an older edition but... I would say the logic is the same, 1 turn 1 wepon. I've always thought this is still true, because I haven't got any unit with such weapon equipment (my BT crusaders always have bolt pistol + CCW OR bolter, never both) and I haven't confronted any unit like this (never played against SW nor CSM). When my DE wytches assault, I shoot the Blaster of the unit (Assault 1), but I don't count +1 attack because of having splinter pistol + CCW. Holy gak, I can add that extra attack?

Pat that askala, O-H-I hate this stupid state

Yes if you are within twelve inches you can choose to fire your bolt pistol which gives you one shot from each guy instead of two from bolter within twelve. Then you charge in to assault and add +1 attack to your base and +1 for charging. This makes for the maximum punch before assaulting them.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
To add look at your weapons stats at the very end and if it says ASSAULT then you can use that before assaulting in the same turn. Whereas anything else like HEAVY, RAPID FIRE or others you can not.
