hello, ive never played a game of WFB before. and i do not have the TK army book. but i was wanting to see if a decent force could be built around the tomb king battle force box (maybe even 2 of them) and a few extra odds and ends.

i was looking, and i see no reason as to why i couldent convert up some tomb guard out of the plastic warriors that come with the box... and i have heard that they are prety good sooo.

im lookin for a 1k force to get a handel on things (and not take to long to get a game it) then maybe some ideas of good units to add to get it up to 2k (thats tournt size right?)

The Skeleton Horsemen that come in the box are near useless. Having said that though, the 32 Skeleton Warriors and 3 Chariots alone are worth it to buy the box. I wouldn't buy multiples of the box though, you don't need that many Skeleton Warriors. You are going to want to assemble the Skeleton Warriors with Bows. If you are converting some to Tomb Guard, make sure you get enough to be able to field a unit of 20 (with Standard Bearer, Musician and Champion).

Other units that are decent but don't come in the Battalion box:
-Tomb Scorpions
-Screaming Skull Catapults
-Characters

The Skeleton Warriors with Bows really don't need more then 10 in a unit. The Tomb Guard could use 5 extra guys (assuming the Prince is joining them). They will need a Champion as well.

Your Liche Priest with the Cloak of the Dunes should have the Hieratic Jar as a second item. The Dispel Scroll could be given to the Liche Priest that is accompanying the Casket of Souls.
