Are The Legion of the Dammed any Good?

For the past couple of days now the LotD have been out. I have seen a lot of smack about how they are over priced, to fragile and under-gunned for what you get. I was wondering has anyone actually fielded them and how did they do? Or is all of this talk just…talk.

Well, just asking the question (IMO) says much about the frequency of their usage.

I personally don't like them... nothing appeals to me.

What are they? A deepstriking hvy weapon delivery system...one were you can get cheaper and better options elsewhere, hence the lack of usage.

Nothing too positive as I recall.

A full 10 man squad is pricey, but it will 'stick', I think.

For the points, you get a 3++ save, the ability to move and fire a heavy weapon, fearless and the ability to re-roll your deep strike scatter dice.

But, there is a lot of competition for slots in the Elite category too...

I like them - they are certainly fun, and they are certainly rare!

Don't forget that all of those bolt Guns and Plasma Guns are 12" Storm Bolters.
I am thinking on using them with a army mixed with Grey Knights so points is not the issue.

I don't see grey knights working with Legion of the Dammed how does this work since you cant use them with BA because it could spoil there pureness!

Actualy it is a Space Marine List with Allied GK and was thinking of using TotD of three of my Elites along with one of the GK as a FA. A Non Terminator Telaport Army.

Use the Grey Knights in power armor as a troop slot...using them as Fast Attack makes them cry tears of monkey poo.

Go with whatevr you like, I think it's a bad idea in general from a competitive standpoint.

What's next? Some locators on some choice units...then minimum troops as the elites/GK's eat up all those precious points for meh returns...

Whoop-di-do. Why can't you just call it S+P Bolters?
A more exact description would be: "random distance of moving and charging, though you can charge after double tapping you will be at initiative 1, and you can't charge after you deepstrike in 12" storm bolters...on a unit that is really only just MEQ's at roughly twice to three times the cost.

Personally, although they may be poor, I'm very tempted to run some LoTD (just using the 5-man box probably) with my Space Wolves, although, yeah they're not mentioned in the codex I expect many people will let me use them...

So 2 questions:
- Would you mind me using them as mentioned above (in a friendly game)?

and, how would you like to see the LoTD improved? there's clearly a problem judging from peoples comments, but what do you think should happen instead? personally I can imagine them forcing near-by enemies to take a morale test...

Wait, they released Legion of the Damned models? What are you talking about? Oh, you meant those new Skeleton Sternguard Marines. I gotchya!

Legion of the Damned have no more killing power than a tactical squad. Take them as Sternguard instead.
