If all of the humans (except for the emperor) suddenly just disappeared how it would affect the 40K universe?
The first to feel the blow would be the chaos gods. With the sudden disappearance of humans They would lose their main source of power. The emperor would also suffer. No more meals from the black ships. The nids and orks would storm through former human worlds uncontested. The tau would be able to hold out for a while but they would lose out against either the nids or the orks. Unable to find the number of slaves that humanity once provided the dark elder would soon become extinct unable to feed on enough souls to keep slannesh at bay. That's basically what I have so far.

Necrons, Orks, and Tyranids all go off and do their own thing. Everyone else dies.

The Emperor doesn't seem to do much for you but you sure are expected to be mutilated, suffer, and die to make him happy. And is he dead or what? If he's entombed that would mean he's dead as a doornail, right? So, how can he be happy about anything you do, or even give orders to anyone? Are you worshipping the dead now? Is that something you'd really want to do? Because it sounds freaking creepy to me.

Then the Emperor would die in 1 day because he needs 1000 psykers every day.

Dark Eldar could raid other species, but that would harder because you have to find them, they have low numbers, good defense, tech etc.....

Why should they disappear in the first place?

Something Im much more worried about is whether Emperor will die or not...

The elder...or a change in the warp the causes the mind of every human to just burn out (which could be one senerio). I was just wondering if putting humans out of the picture would make a big difference in the 40k universe? Or would it be a cascading effect that would affect everyone and then everything would go back to the way it was before humans?

Well Dark Eldar would simply raid other alien species. Still it would be interesting to see what effect this would have on the galaxy. Nids would just eat everything as usual, necs probably don't give a crap either way, Chaos has other ways to thrive, all in all the galaxy would be pretty much the same cept without all that wonderful cannon fodder.

Everyone would die, chaos would win over, their only real threat out of the way. Reality itself would change. The warp would be everything.

Let the galaxy burn.

There would be a huge power vacumm, and most races would expand exponentially, before creating conflict with one another. I also believe that this would make the universe in general a much easier target for Tyranids.

Do the dark elder raid only higher life forms like humans or are all races fair game? I heard that the dark eldar need to torture the souls that they harvest so a nid soul might not give them the same "thrill" as a human soul. The tau's soul has a weak present in the warp so the DE would have little use for them besides slaves. Chaos might be weakened due to the fact that their major source of power is gone unless they can figure out a way to corrupt the orks but they have their own gods and they might intervene (Gork and Mork vs. Khorne)

Dark Eldar raid other species besides humans. If we use warrior coven as a source (pity us dark eldar, needing to cite CS Goto for our fluff) the dark eldar had captured orks that they would torture. I imagine you could get a lot of quality torture out of an ork since they are so resilient. The haemonculi probably would see it as a challenge. I think a true challenge would be torturing a Necron... If you could get some pain and suffering out of a necron...well damn... you are a good torturer.

I bet the dark elder would have to get hold of a pariah or a necron lord (who retain some sort of sentience) to have any desired effect.

I think the Chaos Gods probably prey on more races than just humans, also. A Chaos Player can probably verify this.

Because humans had more of an affect on the warp than any other race did (besides the eldar) Humans suddenly out of the picture might cause the chaos gods weaker than they once was.
