I'm getting a great deal on the old lizardmen box set, a slaan, and the new codex. So I was wondering, what else would I need for a starter army? What size should I be going for? etc... still reading over the rules. I played 40k, but this will be my first fantasy army.

Saurus warriors are one of the best troops in fantasy . they are even more deadly with spears.
usually 6x3 rank . Take as many saurus as you can!

Skinks are still decent skirmishers with poison blow pipes

I find that blocks of Saurus are a very good part of the Lizardmen army. I normally run 2 blocks of 18, a unit of 16 Temple Gaurd with the slaan and I'll stick 3 units of 10 Skink Skirmishers in front of them to act as a skirmish screen and to shoot their blowpipes at anything aproaching my lines. That's normally the backbone and then I fill out the rest with stuff depnding on my mood. Oh and I normally play around 2000pts games.

Wow the slaan are powerful.

But yea I can kind of see what I want to do. May need to score another battleforce set to get myself fully setup.

But this definitely looks like a good starting list....
