Think about it, they already have the molds and already use transparent plastic.

Painters could prime and paint the whole model (in which case it makes no difference) or leave areas bare for the stealth effect.

Y'know I should really run that company shouldn't I...

That's actually a really good idea.

Then maybe I'd play Tau.

They should also only make plastic models.

Metal models are good too you know . Plastic breaks if you push too hard sometimes. While for metal, it may fall apart if you really screwed up, but you can try again

I prefer to work in plastic. I used to build/mod 1/24 scale model cars, so plastic is what I'm more used to. That and you tend to get a better bond when gluing plastic to plastic using a glue that's made for it rather than using super glue to bond metal to metal or metal to plastic. Unless I'm just using the wrong glue.

But the glue would make them cloudy, they'd have to be cast in one piece. Also I guess they should make ghosts as well that way and the Eldar Rangers, they're supposed to have cloaking similar to the Tau stealth suits.

Gathering the Informations.

Not true. Eldar Rangers use camoleoline, same stuff in the Tanith cloaks. It's just a weird synthetic fabric with chamelonic properties.

Which is really freakin' sweet when you think about it.

Won't get cloudy if you don't use CA glue. You would need to use plastic cement, very carefully and sparingly.

The big problem I see is any offset issue with the molds ruins any chance of leaving it transparent if you can't abide the ridge.

You can sand ridges smooth with a very fine grit sandpaper then go over it with a clear floor polish (or even buff with silver polish - it works to make it clear again).

Seconding the: "plastic cement very carefully and sparingly" comment. The thin stuff in a jar and apply with a fine brush.

Otherwise, if they were clear resin, you could use small amounts of a clear epoxy adhesive or glass adhesive (there is one by Selleys that has a similar refractive index to glass, and is very hard to spot the join if done right).

Oh yes, I have done models in clear resin before. They do look cool.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

Step 1- Get some Hight Temperature plaster/clay
Step 2- get some Clear Plastic
Step 3- Make a cast of the Tau stealth suits by making a soluton of plaster/clay and placing the stealth suit in it. *first spray the suits with some form of non stick*
Step 4- Allow time for the plaster to harden
Step 5- Heat the plaster and stealth suit till the plastic melts out of the plaster
Step 6- Melt Clear plastic Resin
Step 7- Allow Plastic to harden
Step 8- chisel or otherwise retrieve the model from the mould
Step 9- Polish model till clear

Ta~da! Done.

Jeez! I think I do way too much work with how the models are cast and made now.

Don't put me on the list of those that wish to be punished by clear plastic.

Someone already made clear Stealth suits. I think they were XV15s. They looked pretty cool. I'll see if I can find the pics.

edit:

Found these, but they're not the ones I saw originally.

They also make a type of modeling cement specifically for clear plastics.

I think it's called canopy glue or something. I have one somewhere.

Has anyone got that GD entry for stealth suits with just a base?

You could do it, I suppose. I've got a bunch of transparent (sort of) Haloclix models that indicate active camouflage. Granted the quality is nowhere near that of GW, but it's good enough (although I wish the Arbiter's sword wasn't so bendy).

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Ive had ideas like those for awhile now. I also wanted to make a Vindicare assassin that was. And only paint the metal parts of his suit and the visor. Thatd be badass. I think if I were to ever make clear Tau like that, they'd HAVE to have some type of paint on them. Just all clear is a bit bland looking

That is an awesome Idea. I know a few of my friends who would like that idea too, you should submit that idea too GW, you never know!
