So I am going to use the pig iron miniatures (not just the heads) for starting my Imperial Guard army, mainly because imho they look better than regular guardsmen. However I will be using GW's IG tanks and heavy weapons team what do you guys think? Have anyone owned any?

I think you will run into problems in GW sponsored tournies + GW battle bunker.

If you 100% play with your friends , by all means go for it!
more power to you if you can find the miniature line you love.

The closest local gaming store is seven miles away from where I live, while GW is a good twenty to thirty minute drive. it's a shame I won't play in GW tourneys, unless I make another entire platoon of guardsmen, now THAT would cause insanity. But really, I love pig iron miniatures and IG's tanks, so why not mix both?

I cannot answer that for you because GW's rule change from store to store , even worse , change store to store employee to employee lol.

Generally GW dont like seeing you using another company's product to "count as" GW units.
So to be safe , ( if you are planning on going to the GW 30 minutes close to you ) , ask that store's manager if you can use
miniatures from another company.

I have about 20 Pig Iron Kolony Militia. They are nice figures. I didn't both changing the weapons. They are equipped with

Standard rifle
Sniper rifle
Heavy support weapon
Heavy laser
Flamethrower
Missile launcher
The sergeants have a heavy pistol and a mace.

You could do conversions to make the weapons look more like GW weapons.

GW wouldn't let you use them in their shop or a tournament, otherwise there's no reason not to use them for 40K.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

I wouldn't use the GW heavy weapons teams along with the Kolony guys. The designs really don't match up. The guns themselves you could use if there's appropriate looking Kolony guys, however.

There is a kneeling missile loader who could be used for tripod weapons crew.

That's a good idea. But I think there may be problem of paint peel off with time goes on.

They will be fine if the figures are properly prepared, primed, painted and varnished.

I don't see why not (for using them to rep IG).

I already use their Ironsides as my IG Leman Russes (the Russ model is too dinky for a tank) and heads on my regular guys, but the new heavy System troopers will become some neat Stormtrooper types for my guard (which will give me another type of model to represent them so I can have Vets in carapace, Storm Troopers and Allied Inquisitorial Storm troopers all in the same force with different models so no-one is confused).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.
