Some time next year, if my job situation gets better, I might want to try and start a new army. As a Tau player who is pretty frustrated with the glass cannon that is the Tau army, I am thinking of an army that will be a little tougher. I would like some ideas and suggestions. My one nonnegotiable thing is that I refuse to play marines. I am tired of going to my FLGS and seeing nothing but marine players every time I go, and with the new space wolf codex, it is only worse. (No offense to marine players, it used to be that I could get a variety of different opponents, now it seems like everyone is going ohhh space marines, must play) Right now I am seriously considering Sisters as I have a color scheme in mind, guard is another possibility as I have always wanted to do a light infantry style army and I have some tanith models.
So what says Dakka?

Marines and Eldar are very good. Its not like i own them.
But still eldar are fast and pwn everyone. But they are owned by regular squads sometimes.
Marines have a variety and they are tough.
There is Also daemons but they are kinda gay already. So they kinda suck.

Mabye eldar, but the whole point is to avoid marines, as they too common at the store.

Sisters are a very good choice with their faith points and the variety of throwing in guard with them.

My vote is for the Sisters with some Tanith thrown in as allies. Gaunt isn't in the new Guard codex so you could use him as Al'Rahem and outflank an Infantry platoon of Tanith First and Only.

If you want tough units that aren't Marines, go for Orks! They've got some incredibly tough and durable troops in there, and you're not going to get much further from Tau than you will with Orks!
