Hello all,
Long story short... I have decided to get into WW2 skirmish. I have narrowed the selection of rulesets down to two after a lengthy internet research session:
1: Two Hour Wargames: NUTS!
2: Iron Ivan Games: Disposable Heroes and Coffin for Seven Brothers

The problem im running up against, is that NOBODY carries the above in my area, so I can't flip through them first hand and make a final decision on which one would best suite my taste/needs. And I do not have the funds available at this time to buy both of them and figure out which I like the best.

So I am asking the great folks here, out of the two above.. which one would you pick and why. (aka pros and cons)

Thank you for your time and have a nice day.

I have, and really enjoy NUTS (I just picked up the new Pacific War expansion as well). One nice feature is that it's easy to play solitaire, or with multiple friendlies against an AI-type opponent. The Pacific rules seem particularly suited to this, although I have not yet played them yet.

However, I will say that NUTS (and other Two Hour Wargames) are not for everyone. The way troops activate will drive people crazy...you can have units not activate for several turns in a row. I would suggest, if you haven't yet already, go to [url]http://theminiaturespage.com[url] and read the message boards. There are plenty of topics about favorite WWII rules. Goto the 2-Hour wargames site and download the free rules for Chain Reaction 3.0, which are fairly similar to Nuts, and look at some of the NUTS batreps.

Having played both of them, I would get Force-on-Force.

Didnt like Nuts!, just trying to read it drove me mad. So that may just be me!

Not fond of DH... and I have played alot of it. Just doesnt feel right.

You could also look at Rule of Engagement.

My choice is Force-on-Force as you have to use real world tactics and it has the right feel to it over the other two.

Just my opinion of course!

The two rule sets that seam to be most popular around my parts are the IIG set (Heroes/coffin) and BE's World at War.

I've seen Disposable Heroes played a lot and started to learn the rules, enough to know I don't really care for it. The rules work, but for a "skirmish" level game where you only have a few squads and a tank or maybe even two on the board, the rules just seam very simplistic. Not in a good "we can finish a game in two hours!" simplistic either. I was glad I hadn't ever bought that rules set because if it was the only 25/28mm rules set I had ever encountered I would have been uspet and disappointed after having bought and painted miniatures only to play by those rules.

You can't fix stupid.
